The thing about pay to win is it means you buy something with cash directly. Think of pay to win like buying food at a store. They charge u for what u get. Dlc is more like going to a sports event and having to buy a ticket to get in

I know what pay to win means that's what I'm saying though. In this game, light level matters at least in iron banner/trials of Osiris. People who got the expansions will have an advantage over those who didnt. They "paid" money for the expansion, which will make their "win" easier to get.

However that same logic could be applied to if they had a demo if the game as well as the full game. The demo would give players a limit on levels and buying the full game would give you more areas to explore, more mobs to kill, higher level bosses, and rewards for higher level bosses being killed. The term pay to win has a connotation of I purchased this item and now I can beat the game with ease rather than what the Dlc offers which is more content that will lead you to more rewards of better gear to then kill more higher leveled bosses quicker. It's not the same thing unless u attempt to generalize it which leads to more things being thrown into that same category that in all actuality do not belong there.

Yeah I understand that, but I mean for the sake of argument, someone paid $60 dollars for this game, but they won't be able to win a match of Iron Banner with ease because they didn't pay another $20 or $80 total. I guess that boils down to Activision and their plan to cut up the game to sell it in pieces to further nickel and dime. But that's a completely different argument. It doesn't fit with the demo one obviously because its just a demonstration. But $60 really sounds like a full game, but it won't be once expansions come out and give an advantage over other players who didn't fork down the expansion money. In other words, money is a deciding factor in events like iron banner and trials of Osiris. I mean it'd be completely fine if level wasn't attached to gear, but the fact that it is, poses completely different problems other games don't deal with. This topic would've never been posted if level was solely tied to XP because XP is universal; doesn't matter if you bought expansions. Since this is not the case we have to deal with it differently.

The game is always a full game (cut content or not) an expansion should build on that content. Which includes additional light maybe. I hope light levels stay at 30 to give different end game builds, I would hate to see everyone switch to the new raid gear rather than mix and match all raid gear.

Yeah that was another one of my concerns. There won't be a lot of diversity if everyone only has the new gear.
