What if while you were playing Destiny you heard an urgent message coming from the tower? Maybe it would be from your Vanguard Mentor, maybe even from our Beloved Cryptarch. This message might come through your headset like a dying whisper, or a panicked call to arms popping up like you've accepted a patrol mission. This message would be very clear, enemies approaching, defenses failing, we need you now, we need you all now. I'm talking about the ultimate community event, team up now, or understand that all could be lost. Finish your pvp game, speed to the end of your pve mission, jump to orbit, and head home. The Fallen are breaking through, The Vex are massing their attack, The Cabal are making their final stand. The Tower will fall. Unless through their strength together, the Guardians stand to protect what is theirs. Snipers to the balcony, Titans to the front, it's going to be a wild ride. It will take 24 hours to get the Tower's defenses back online, you'll respawn in the special events area where the Tower's staff will be waiting, eager to provide their services if if means saving the last beacon of light from waves of enemies stronger than any one could defeat alone. Let's win this together.

I posted the URL to this thread on my Twitter. I thought about posting it on Bungie's Twitter, but chances are that many already have done so.....plus, to my surprise, Bungie hasn't responded to my inquiry on Twitter, so maybe they don't respond to various tweets.

I think I have heard this message, but can't remember. But I did start a post about that Said post: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/71408189/0/0/1

I could tell you about it...but that's dlc.

This is an awesome idea. because normal public events only get a handful of people joining in. Most I've seen in one place was about 4. The game doesn't seem to struggle when there are a lot of people and enemies on the screen so its pretty do able

This^

Save everyone but the Cryptarch and the Speaker!!!
-
What's going on with this video game, don't know anything about it
-
We wont get this. Why? Because it brings fun. If the Tower would have an event its probably something repetitive that requires you to complete a bountie "kill 100 Vex with your Pulse Rifle while defending the Tower" but the Tower will be attacked by Cabal cause Bungie is retarded like that.

12 RepliesEdited by Enzan: 10/5/2014 7:29:12 AMAs a Spokesmen for the faction of New Monarchy, chosen by Executor Hideo, we refuse to work with those who are loyal to the Dead Orbit Faction. They are people with no backbone that choose to run than fight for the Tower. We will however, agree to work along Future War Cult if the time comes. Thank you. On a real note, I don't see it working with Dead Orbit's information, since they are told to run from the fight of darkness, than stand and protect what is here.

2 RepliesEdited by JordanU: 10/5/2014 11:20:47 AMI think Destiny could take some pointers from Phantasy Star Online 2. In this MMO, few times every day these 'Emergencies' happen, where everyone groups up with randoms and takes on super hard bosses, base defense against hordes of enemies which lets you use turrets and mecha, and just missions where you have giant groups of people slicing through enemies to reach the end and take on the boss ( kinda like the strikes we have now, but with like 18(?) people). Imagine how cool it would be if Destiny did this?

2 RepliesThe funny thing is that the players start making a story, putting some sense to it or do something innovative on their own in this game. The Devs can´t read obviously.
-
I'd play this in a heart beat sounds good to me
-
ye well, 16 Players per game n stuff...
-
Cool, That would be better than defending your ghost for 1millionth time.

Edited by ZeroCell: 10/6/2014 8:08:38 AMI think they would need to engineer an entirely new song for that. Combine all the epicness of every song in the game and then it would be worthy of such an event. After some more thought, something like Planetside's massive war system would be absolutely perfect for this.

7 RepliesHad the same idea but more planned. The Fallen are setting up a massive attack at a few places on that huge wall you can see from the tower. The mission would be a strike mission that comes up with a tug of war battle system in the UI. It would show Fallen on the right and Guardians on the left with a 0% percentage in the middle. Each time it was completed with a Gold rating you would gain 0.010, silver 0.005 bronze 0.002 The Fallen would gain based on was point your team got pushed back to if at all. Outer wall Fallen gain 0.002, Inner wall 0.005 Inside the safe zone 0.010 The Mission would take 6 Guardians to do and would take 30~ min or so to complete. The object is to hold the wall and prevent the fallen from breaching it. You would start just outside the outer wall and defend against dreg and other fallen till a even occurs that spawns two Fallen Walkers and lots of small mobs. If you wipe here you are pushed back to the wall it's self and fight inside it. If you wipe a third time you fight just outside the inner wall defend the safety zone from fallen spreading to the city. If you wipe here you are removed to orbit and the fallen gain a larger percentage. If you lived, you fight a second wave of Fallen in large numbers. Once the twenty min mark hits you fight three Fallen Walkers. Upon defeating the three walkers the Fallen will start to fall back and the mission will come to a end, Winning the strike. Each wipe will spawn you farther back in the wall fighting off massive amounts of Fallen Ultras and mobs until thirty minuets or you lose If you did end up with a total loss from a wipe on the outside of the inner wall a small video would play of other Guardians coming to your rescue and fight back the Fallen. If all the teams fighting the strike are able to win it's in the ball park of 10,000 plus games to get to 100%

5 RepliesEdited by Trgamer1: 10/5/2014 4:37:55 PMWas also thinking perhaps if you were playing a crucible match , a pop up message could come up saying the forces of darkness are converging on your location. All of a sudden hive tomb ships come from all directions dropping off thralls, acolytes, and Knights, what do you do? keep playing the objective or take out the forces of the darkness?

1 Replyso if we lose, does the game end?

Brand new clan looking for people to join and help us with raids. Be one of the first new members of The Final Frontier! - This is a great idea by the way.

Infinite bump.

Would never happen. Love the story arc. I could never see this happen. Bungie is still trying to give a complete story without having to waste their time on something like this. Destiny ended like a match fizzling out. You get all the spark and flame and then done. I'm really disappointed in this game. I hoped for so much more. I'm still grinding like someone who doesn't like their job but does it anyway. That's how Destiny is to me. I would love that idea to come to fruition, but sorry to burst your bubble. Bungie still has too much to do in terms of rounding out this story that your idea would come in the way of that. Maybe sometime next summer, I could only hope and dream an idea like this would come to pass. Think about it, one of the expansion packs go live in a few months. Nice idea.

I honestly just came... That would be the sickest thing ever! I got chills just reading this!
-
That would be the coolest thing ever!!!!!. Please Bunjie we are as your adoring fans beg you for this. We could fight along side the legends that walk among the tower. Fight with brothers and sisters of the Tower...
