Destiny 2 will receive an update today. Players will be required to log in to Destiny 2 again after installing the update. Please stay tuned to @BungieHelp for updates.
Past all of the gripes, the loot cave was a joke, killing yourself for respawns over and over again to get loot was a joke. This needed to be stopped. These in themselves were not problems more so than the loot system itself. Lets step away from the lack of story and such.
The fact that you came out with videos all spouting how amazing loot is and how great the skins are was all limited in such an artificial way. There is nothing in the game worth upgrading for most players. Light.. just focus on that.. light and done. Same amount a light? Then what looks cooler?
There is no real reason to run strikes, they feel un-rewarding. You can "raid" if you like, but thats about it. After that point, you need to wait months for DLC that will probably be swept up and completed in a day past the artificial limiters like reputation grinds that will just cause us to run the same missions over and over again. A bit of a side note here, to all of the people saying this is not an MMO, we sure do use a lot of MMO terms here? Before we get stuck on that useless debate..
There is really no point to log into the game for most people after a week of playing. I already have friends dropping off because of this as mentioned above. Loot can carry a game, but there is no where near the amount of loot compared to say Borderlands, Diablo, etc. when it comes to repeating content. You do not need instant gratification, but a feeling of progression is more like it.
Destiny is going to need a large improvement in the loot system itself and in combination with a great expansion to exploration. A small world that is repetitive with very little "cool" loot to upgrade and dominate with is just un-rewarding gameplay. We have nothing to look forward to after the first week except for the "Queen" missions which were again, the same content over and over again.
Some credit to Bungie here is that anyone who has been playing their games since the beginning and who is an average gamer... you can easily tell that this game was essentially cut in half(at the least). I would easily venture to say that Bungie may have created a full gaming experience that was held back for the most part. That's the sad state of Console gaming these days that is bleeding into PC gaming all the time.
As I am writing this rant.. I still see Destiny Commercials on TV while watching ESPN. I start to see how much attention was given to the marketing department over the development of the game. Small groups deciding, "What can we get away with..." literally in a meeting room measuring focus groups' reaction to specific amounts of content. I will not be surprised to see a lot of designers/developers jumping ship for "Artistic" reasons who are just under contract not to do so during a "promotional period"
Attaching the review from Angry Joe which holds several of my feelings alone the same line here. Difference here is that I think we should be focusing on Exploration/loot more than anything. But at the end of the day, this is nothing but opinion.
I really hope to be playing this game for years with my friends. Nothing but the best of luck for you Bungie
