I chose an Awoken, as they simply look great. Unfortunately, while progressing with the story, it didn't make much sense to play as one. So, now I wish I'd play as human. But you gotta live with the consequences. I wouldn't pay to be able to change the character's race, though. Even the request gives me shivers. The option is either in the game or it's not, but charging money for every little added feature is a path, I'm not willing to walk down with you.

  • As a person who has played lots of MMO's - this feature is a regular occurrence. It will only get more and more viable as the game expands and progresses, as people get higher level and more invested in their characters, they will be less likely to reroll, especially just for a cosmetic change. I can understand why this request makes players react the way you have, but it is hardly game breaking, nor 'every little feature' - it is in the same vain as character transfers, cosmetic additions like the costumes and hats in TLOU, RP in LoL etc. It is a common thing on both PC and consoles.

  • Like I said, it's either a feature of the game or it's not. In 'Skyrim' you could change your appearance at some point during the Thieves-Guilt-quest-line. It was part of the game. Though I'm not sure, you could also change your race. Guess not. I'd like to change my character's race as well, after following the story and noticing, playing as Awoken takes a bit away from it. But I wouldn't pay for it.

  • That's not true of MMO's - which is what Bungie and Activision are toting this game as. What you are saying is very true of single-player games, or 'normal' games - Destiny will be ever expanding. Expecting everything to be in the game or available from day one is both naive, and unreasonable. Not to sound condescending but this mindset seems to be very typical across people who exclusively play on console.

I bought a console (PS4) to play 'The Last Of Us' and 'Destiny'. ;) (Despite the clunky controls that is.) Don't even know, how it's relevant, what platform you play on, unless you consider yourself a platformer, rather than a person who likes gaming? I'm a bit confused, as you said 'That's not true.', and I'm wondering what isn't? What makes you think, I expected everything to be in the game from the get-go? What's in between of 'a feature is either part of a game or it isn't'? If it becomes part of a game, (because people ask for it,) it's (then) part of the game, isn't it? If it's not in the game, it isn't. What else is there? Not sure, I follow.

"Like I said, it's either a feature of the game or it's not. " - You are speaking as if games do not evolve over time, which is true of most console or single players games. MMO's are VASTLY different. World of Warcraft for example has changed incredibly over the last 10 years. the platform you play games on is indeed irrelevant, however ideas about what is the norm are not the same across consoles and PC's, that is why most subscription based games (such as FFXIV) do not do well in a console setting, people just aren't willing to change their ways or ideas. A good example would be modding communities on PC, you mention Skyrim in one of your replies - go tell the people over at Skyrim Nexus about things that are part of the game. A console gamers experience of Skyrim is hugely different to a PC gamers. I'm not saying every PC gamer mods their game, but the option is at least there. All I'm trying to say is the ideas in the poll above are not as radical as you appear to think they are.
