The grip itself is certainly a factor of control, and grip technique should be considered as well. I would like to know the details of the former conversation before I go further.

In this scenario we are discussing the traditional reverse grip on a karambit. My point is that the thickness of the grip on knife A provides a surface area that is larger for the palm and provides a comfortable position for the fingers and palm to wrap around this grip. The opposition, from what I understand, believes that knife B, a skinnier and more angle grip (Below 90 degrees on the semi circles that fit the fingers), provides a more comfortable fit for the hand and allows the user more control although the indentions for the fingers are on both sides, causing the material around the fingers to be much skinnier and rise as we get closer to the part of the knife that fits into base of the palm.

  • There is also the matter of the soldier's hand size. Someone with larger hands may find that a broader grip better accommodates their hand structure and will give them more control while smaller hands may find broader grips impractical. The size of the finger guard ring in particular and how it fits around the finger is crucial, as that ring makes disarming more difficult and allows finger maneuvering without grip loss. One could argue that the ring is a more important issue of control than grip with a Karambit. As concealed weapons, they're designed with smaller grips, the intention being to lock the blade in the palm. For users with smaller hands, a broader grip may endanger this lock.

  • A valid point. Assume that there are two different users and both of their hand sizes match their grips perfectly. Basically creating "the soldiers hand" as a constant.

  • I like the ring. It prevents your hand from slipping onto the blade when the handle gets bloody from repeatedly plunging it into someone's heart... Like in Dexter.
