Yes and no. Truthfully, Iraqi civillians would have fared better under Saddam, even if he did gas a hundred thousand every 5 years or so. The civil war triggered by deposing Saddam is claiming far more lives than he most likely would have. However, we can't continue to shoulder the blame for how much these people hate each other. We should have done our homework first, sure, but at this point, it's harder to say what is happening is anyone's fault but the people fighting each other to the death over holes in the ground. They really, really hate each other. The US gave them a legitimate shot at having a democracy. Deciding instead to murder each other at an ever-increasing rate has to be mostly on them.

Or, you know. America could've kept to itself and not put that monster Saddam into power.

I don't know Saddam is looking like a pretty good option right now.

Edited by Gatsby: 6/19/2014 9:57:03 PMHe gassed 3000, while it was a terrible act, over 500 thousand died due to the invasion. Prior to the invasion shias, kurds, sunnis, and christians lived peacefully amongst each other.

Yeah, in hindsight, removing Saddam was a very bad idea. But, they are the ones choosing to continue to escalate the violence. That can't be our fault forever.

Edited by Gatsby: 6/19/2014 10:03:10 PMOf course not, what Iraq needs right now is a strong government which isn't biased because of their religion, however I doubt it'll happen.
