You are very much right OP. Ghost's voice in Destiny sounds very very flat; it's almost irritating. And no it doesn't matter if Ghost is voiced by some popular actor because the voice acting is down right mediocre. I would say whoever directed the voice acting did a bad job. There is absolutely no enthusiasm in the voice and it is significantly inferior to the AI voice acting provided by voice actors in previous Bungie games.
It's sad that some people will completely disregard this criticism because of their fan-girl love interest for Peter Dinklage. Dinklage is a fine actor, but that doesn't mean he can't do a bad job.
Edit: I just want to highlight that all the voice work for Destiny is finished at this point. Pete Parsons of Bungie himself said the game is almost finished. So there's nothing that's going to change for Ghost's voice between now and the release unless they add some sort of voice synthesizer, which wont help alleviate the larger problem at hand.
I would says whoever directed the voice acting did a bad job.
Would you believe me if I said it was Marty? He was the audio director at that time, so he would be sitting in and directing the voice acting during recordings. There are old Halo Vidocs that would prove it. I agree with you though, and even the script is pretty bloody bland.

I already had a hunch that it was Marty. It's just that I wasn't 100 percent sure because the team has substantially grown since Halo: Reach and the duties for VA direction may have passed to the director of cinematics. Back in the Halo days, the VA was directed by Joe Staten and Marty. Joe had less of a hand in Halo 3 and Halo: Reach. Anyways, there is at-least one scene in Halo 1-3 where the voice acting was poor, and most of the times it was Cortana/Jen Taylor. But most of it was stellar.

Dinklage could have done a great job, depending on what the director asked of him and I think it can still be salvaged. I just hope more people keep commenting so this thread draws some attention. If we had some more context to show us it was a computer talking I think it would make the integration into the game much better. Even adding a discrete icon that pops up in the corner of the HUD to let you know a computer is speaking could do wonders and make it feel more involved. Everything else I've seen looks amazing though.

I too hope people comment on this thread with positive and constructive criticism. Unfortunately threads like these get buried by trol-bait-threads. A lot of people wont throw a hissy fit until the game is actually out, which is most unfortunate because Bungie should know now that so far what we've seen of Dinklage's VA has been pretty underwhelming and almost bad.
