Obviously not carrying over from PSN to XBOX Live...
This isn't obvious.
CoD has cross platform accounts. Bungie could definitely do this.

Edited by Squizzlor: 4/5/2014 12:17:55 AMGuess what, cod has less data to transfer!

Silly person that thinks your characters save file will be located on the console. That would completely defeat the online world with exotic and rare weapons. If it was located on the consoles you would be able to edit the information. So most likely the console will just be the log in to the world of destiny that is housed on Bungies servers. So no need to transfer anything just log in on the new console.

You don't know that.

Edited by Squizzlor: 4/5/2014 12:48:44 AMActually I do, save data is a simple yes and no checklist aka Booleans, and the multiplayer content, K/D w/L kills with certain weapons, etc.. This is all in the back end of the game related to the servers, this data instead is simply held variables. Now with a game like cod your checklist is rather short, there is but about 20 weapons or so in the game, along with simple color unlocks, m attachments, and saved load outs of them. In all it looks like a small line of veriables runing but a few megabits, easily transferable, even over an email... Now destiny on the other hand will not only have a larger array of weapons, but also armors separated i to several categories, plus atop of that a sequence of numbers that will represent your characters custom face. You also have remember this is an Rpg and your stats and exp will have to be logged as well, and the extensiveness to the games customization is yet unknown but its certain more then your face will be customly molded, leaving further variables. Have you seen the size of an average RPG save on your system? Its not all that small, this is a good Array of data to package, in comparison a save from cod is but a pin

Edited by Nitron F117: 4/5/2014 1:09:21 AMI'll agree that Destiny's save file is most likely larger than CoD's. But until we get both, there's no way to know. But really, this file size quandary is not an issue. The process of Bungie saving 100K of character data is the same as saving 20M of character data. If they can do it, they can do it.

There will be no save file. It will all be stored on Bungies servers.
There will be no save file. It will all be stored on Bungies servers.
You know what they save on servers? Files.

Ahh yes taking everything out of context. There will be no save files on the consoles themselves. Just the data files like any modern day MMO.

Who said anything about files on consoles?

The rest of the replies in this thread?

So talk to them about it.

Problem is this may be like a damn mass effect file being your characters transferred between games thats a big ball of code
