This was long overdue. With today's online atmosphere it's better to have restricting voice chat be the default and have the option of enabling it rather than the other way around. Makes a much better online experience that way.

This is not a good system. What they've proposed will make the personal experience better, yes. But it will also greatly hinder the cooperative, social spirit at the core of Destiny. I made a topic on this.

But you can't enable it (or else he didn't say) He just said that if you want to talk to people outside your fire team you have to invite them to a Xbox live party chat. Which is fine by me. But he never stated if you can talk to people outside your fireteam without going into a party chat like Live. Which some people may not like.

I'm pretty sure I heard clearly in the interview that there were going to be "means to connect with those in game that you want to." It might just be Xbox party chat and PS's equivalent but it seemed to me like they meant more than that. Even if that's straight up all it was it's definitely the right choice for the greater good for the whole of Destiny's community and for a regular player trying to have fun.

He did say other means, but he didn't specify those means. That you are correct sir
but he didn't specify those means.
I'm excited as hell for Destiny... but ain't this just the story of Bungie's reveals the past few months...

That's true
