I don't understand the "my friends are buying it, so I gotta have it."

Because if you have a PS4 and your friends have an Xbox One, then you can't play with your friends. Most people.like playing with their friends, therefore they get whatever console their friends are getting.

Neither do I... It's peer pressure maybe.

Humanity is (unfortunately) a "Pack Animal". It is the rare Human who can live entirely as a hermit. Most need a strong social network and therefore their purchasing choices are swayed, in large part, by the movements of their social circles. Hence, if everyone on your PSN or LIVE friend's list is buying a particular console; then psychologically you're more likely to purchase/view-favorably that same console simply because your extended "pack" is going that way.

Thank you for explaining that to me, Lasombra 3. I guess I'm the hermit then. I have only my 2 cousins on my PSN friend list that I know in person. The rest are strangers. I guess I'm a lone wolf.

You're not alone. I will buy both consoles. Though I'm buying the PS4 first. Most of my friends are on PS4, excluding PC of course, however, that is the last reason I'm getting the PS4. It's cool to play with friends and all, but in the end, I don't play many games that allow you to play with others so it's pointless to follow the crowd for me.
