Before you read this, just know this was for fun. Let's all be happy.
Okay! So something that really caught my attention is HOW THE TRAVELER FLOATS.
Now, I've thought a bit about it. The only possible reasoning behind how it floats is that the traveler is undergoing a GEOSYNCHRONOUS ORBIT (also called a geostationary orbit).
What this means is the traveler is basically orbiting the Earth in sync with the earth's rotation, such that the traveler is always hovering over one particular spot on the earth as the earth rotates. This is exactly how geosynchronous satellites work.
BUT WAIT. Here's the problem. An object can only undergo a geosynchronous orbit if it is above the EQUATOR. The traveler is NOT above the equator, it is above Puerto Princesa (apparently) which is no where near the equator. So the traveler is clearly not in a geosynchronous orbit.
In conclusion...
THE AMOUNT OF SPACE MAGIC IN THIS GAME IS TOO DAMN HIGH!
That needs to be a meme. Someone make it. Lol.
Anyways, do you guys think the question of how the traveler floats will even be answered? It doesn't seem important, I know, but I'm still quite curious. And while you're here, what do you think the traveler IS? What could be INSIDE it?
Cheers guys ;)

1 ReplyI think its a giant ship. Inside of it is the mysterious fifth race. I think they might be good guys this time. Dont know why theyre protecting us but yeah

1 ReplyIts simple really, if you look very very closely, well not many have yet, but if you do you see a little figure under the traveler! Yepp you guessed it, its!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YODA! :D

6 RepliesSomeone set Grognok to over 9000. That's the only explanation I got.

I think the Traveler is one of Gods balls that somehow got cut off and is now keeping our city safe.

It's resting on the finger of a very talented basketball player.

Edited by JacobTheGreat2: 6/22/2013 11:51:54 PMThe Warlocks cast spells, and we are up against space zombies and time traveling robots. Who cares about Traveler gravity magic?

It is a video game. Don't overdo yourself.

What if the traveler creates its own magnetic field, and created another one over the city to counter act it and keep it afloat, and maybe thats how all the space magic happens, radiation from the traveler, and the awoken are just humans who swich magnetic fields so much theyre body changes.

Wait they said that they are in old russia. And i thought russia was above the equator.
-
Dude...space magic.

First of all it set up the shields to protect us and then set itself down on top really carefully. There is always the chance that a strong wind will knock it off and send it rolling across earth like a giant bowling ball...

I think Granite's theory is the most understandable in my opinion. Simply because it answers the question of WHERE the traveler could have come from and reletes perfectly to WHY it came. But that's just my opinion.
-
It's connected to souls of the humans in the last city?
-
It's not in geosynchronous orbit, it just is in a steady flight pattern to make it appear that way.
-
2 RepliesI think it's very important to know the origin and powers of the Traveler, just because it's so intriguing. Is it alive? Is it making the conscious decision to protect us? Was it sent by another race of aliens that want to protect us, but can't reach us personally so they send the Traveler?

That was the right amount of science and Internet memes for me to agree.

The Traveller floats on a specific quantity of suspension of disbelief. If guardians don't believe in it, it will come crashing down on their haven. So, just like you would for Tinkerbell, please, put your hands together - for SPACE MAGIC!
-
A geosynchronous orbit is not a geostationary orbit. The former can be achieved above any given area of the Earth's surface.
-
Puerto Princesa. where do you get this information? aside from that i'd assume it has to do something with anti-gravity magic. The Traveler is something that appeared to humanity. nobody knew if it was a threat or not and it just luckily turned out to be humanity's last beacon of hope. The powers of the traveler have given people space magic so it isn't that far fetched to assume that it would be able to just float where it was.

Are you factoring the McGuffinication=Plotline theory.

I thought the lady city was located somewhere in Northern Asia....
-
LOL, let's see.. I initially thought of strong repulsive magnetic powers.. but the only problem is the traveler is not directly above either of the Earth's poles. Lmao if you want to go into that much detail though might as well also question how they made Mars and Venus habitable (terraforming?), not to mention how the moon apparently has an atmosphere in the game :P

Ever heard of a little thing called space magic?
