Getting over fear of the dentist.

Now, I didn't fear the dentist as a kid because I always took good care of my teeth and didn't eat THAT much sugar. Fast forward to where I am today, and I spent the last two years brushing my teeth once a day if that and eating a shitload of sugar. Naturally, I have a whole lot of decay. My teeth are structurally sound, but turn on a bright light and you can see plenty of rotten areas. Please try to withhold judgement, I'm ashamed enough for the both of us. I fear for how extensive it is and what they'll have to do. Anyone have any advice on getting over this? None of my teeth hurt (save for the gums over one, but I don't think it's abscessed), but I know they're going to have to do a whole lot of work and possibly even remove the aforementioned tooth. I hate to admit this, but I'm seriously dreading facing tomorrow.

  • Honestly getting a tooth removed isnt bad. I had two removed one time, given they were impacted wisdom teeth, which did suck. There are two possibilities for getting it removed. Either a) Novocaine and you will be awake for it or b) knocked out. Neither option is bad, though I only have experience with option a, ended up falling asleep during it honestly.
