This is hilarious. Sony never tried to push their machines as more than just a gaming console. Never.

  • Yeah they ended up not selling too well. While the superior 360 focused on games. Until the later half of it's life when it shifted it's focus to shovelware and kinect. Now that they are taking the 360 approach and the One is taking the PS3 approach I'm switching consoles.

Cool man, I hope you enjoy your purchase. I'm still waiting for E3 because I don't know enough yet to make a decision.

Well don't get your hopes up too high because many of those 15 exclusives will be kinect games, xbla games, generic shooters, and maybe a couple may be good for you if they fit your tastes. I hope you don't think that even at least 10 of those 15 will be gems because you'll be pretty disappointed.

Man, clearly you're an insider who totally isn't pulling speculation out of thin air. May I subscribe to your newsletter? I actually plan on getting both consoles so you can spare me your console warrior fanboy diatribe while you're ahead. HTH <3

Sony was always good at making false advertisements.

  • I believe the difference is that the focus of efforts appears to be different. Of course each of these companies are trying to make their machine do more than just gaming, but it's the perception of what they are trying to create. Microsoft's presentation did not really set games as the main focus though it's undeniable that they will have games high on their list.

MS said before their presentation that the focus of the presentation was going to be the console and its extra features and that they would focus on games at E3. They said this in April. What we are witnessing is gamers regurgitating talking points over and over again to rile themselves up without the full story. Then again, gamers, jumping to conclusions without all the detail? Oh the shock of it all. I'm still waiting for E3 to decide which company is getting my money first. At least with Nintendo you know what you're getting.
The same thing you've been getting for two decades. ;)
So explain why these extra features weren't in any benefit for the gamer, on a reveal for a gaming console. As a gamer, there is very little to draw me to this console as it does nothing a gamer would want. It's specs aren't that great, there is more DRM than less, Kinect is still being heavily promoted, Call of Doggy, the dashboard is still terrible and covered in ads, still pricey online, tv, tv, tv. Theo ne and only benefit I have seen is that there will be servers, but that has never affected me anyway since I've never had connection problems during games. Microsoft is just proving that they don't understand or care about the normal gamer and want to still focus on the Wii demographic from last gen.

That you're calling it a gaming console in the first place is a mistake. Neither Sony or MS are just going after the gaming crowd anymore. Do you have an issue with electronics becoming "all-in-one" devices?
If you do, I hope you aren't using a smart phone
This "woe-is-me" attitude that gamers are adopting because more people are being invited to their tree house is pathetic and smacks of wanting to remain "exclusive" for the sake of it.

  • Smart phones are more expensive than regular phones. You have the option to buy a phone that isn't a smart phone and still access the phone numbers you're used to being able to call. If Microsoft came out with a Xbox One Point Five that stripped away the gimmicks and saved you the hundred bucks or so those components cost you, I think there'd be a lot less rage.

I own a Smart Phone which I use for texting, calling, and using the internet, as that has been the focus of smart phones since they were created and are convenient because I have my phone away from my computer and thus I can use the internet from far away. I already have a DVR nearby, I already have my smart phone nearby, I already have my computer nearby and I've already paid for all of them just like everyone else. There's no benefit to having an all-in-one, especially when requiring subscriptions despite already being subscribed to online. Gamers are developing the "woe-is-me" attitude because they are the ones who were alive from the Xbox-PS2-Gamecube generation and back. They remember when you would turn on your console, see a cool little console logo splash, and then enter their game. Now it is turn on console, "good morning batman, authorizing access", publisher splash, console splash, dashboard load, "YOU SHOULD BUY SKYPE" "GAMERS ARE RAVING FOR CALL OF DOGGY" "WINDOWS 8 IS A 5 OUT OF 5 -Microsoft employee" "CHECK OUT THIS MLB TV OFFER" "BUY ANOTHER MONTH OF XBOX LIVE FOR ONLY $30!! WHAT A DEAL" , go to play game, developer splash logo, promoter splash logo, console company splash logo, publisher splash logo, opening unskippable cinematic, game title screen "press start to play", another unskippable cinematic, main menu and go to single player, "short cinematic", "YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET PLEASE CONNECT NOW", "KINECT CANNOT SEE YOU PLEASE CONNECT NOW" "KINECT IS REQUIRED FOR OPTIONAL VOICE COMMAND IN GAME PLEASE CONNECT NOW", connect Kinect, pick save file, "Jim wants to skype you", deny, "Jim wants to skype you", deny, "Jim wants to skype you", accept, "PLEASE PAY 20 DOLLAR MONTHLY FEE TO USE SKYPE", smash console with hammer

  • And I still have to face advertisements for everything, I still have to sit through all of the dumb crap trying to get me to use Kinect or to buy a product or subscribe to a subscription after being subscribed to a subscription that would allow me to use that subscription. And the console is massively less concentrated on gaming, so why would I even want the console in the first place to boot from disk? I already know that the games will be average and I'll have Kinect forced down my throat along with full-priced fees for buying the game used. There is nothing within the Xbox One that makes me want to continue to support Microsoft anymore.
