So after I posted a question thread about the Destiny books I saw some deep divisions in the preferences of some of our readers, even some saying they don't like videogame books! (I know, right?)
So I've decided to make a thread where you say who would be your ideal Destiny author!
I'd be excited to see Patrick Rothfuss as an author, he seems pretty good at medival fantasy, I think such a skill could translate into the world of Destiny quite well.
Whose name do you want to see underneath the title of a Destiny novel? (you can choose more than one)

Rick Riordan. My favorite writer.

6 RepliesGeorge R.R Martin You know, in 30 years after he finishes the last couple of Game of Thrones books.

Smellyanime is fückin gay - old
I like books -
Tom Clancy if he was still alive but since he isn't I vote Clive Cussler he'll write an amazing destiny book!

6 RepliesStephanie meyer. Hahaha

If Asimov was alive i would prefer him to write it but i would be ok if Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis writes it :)
-
I don't want a book, I need a book!

Myself. Honestly though, I would write one if I was paid for it. I'm already in the process of writing two of my own books right now and one currently has over 4,000 reads so far.
Maybe a little conceited to choose myself..
1 ReplyStephen King. He could make the darkness really scary.

Stephen King Keep it creepy, fam.
-
Drew Karpyshyn. The Darth Bane trilogy is brilliant! I think he could do it some justice

1 ReplyWhy not... Personally i'd prefer a comic book/manga, but books work just as well. Imagination is mindblowing sometimes....

Personally, I agree with all the others, Nylund, Traviss, etc. Id also love to give it a shot if Bungie would actually read anything I came up with, I have a pseudo-destiny story in the works already (changed it enough so that they cant douse me with copyright sh*t if I post it anywhere or publish it) but Id love to write a actual Destiny book series for the company

2 RepliesEric Nylund No question
-
Terry Goodkind

Graham McNiel Dan Abnet Aaron Dembski-Bowden And anyone else penning Horus Heresy novels for the Black Library. I don't pkay 40k anymore, but the BL authors are writing some phenomenal sci-fi! Granted, the 40k IP has been developing for over 30 years, but destiny will be lucky to have 25% of the lore 40k has.

If there absolutely *have* to be books, Brandon Sanderson. I won't read them if they're by anyone else.

I would say Tom Clancy, but sadly, he died in October of 2013. Damn shame. His books were and are awesome!

1 ReplyEric Nylund, Karen Traviss, Chris Schlerf, Naomi Novik and me. Not joking; I've got a deep love and respect for Bungie's stories and what a dream it would be to contribute. I was actually discussing movies, games, and their associated EU with a friend yesterday, and she encouraged me to start. As unlikely as it would be to actually have this come to fruition, there's no harm in trying. But considering the scope of novels, graphic and otherwise, under Bungie's reign of Halo, I would be endlessly ecstatic for more Destiny storylines. There's already so much potential; Cayde and Andal, whatever's going on between Saladin, Shaxx, and Zavala, Ikora's story. Three of the authors I've listed above have handled Halo extremely well, and so I'd trust their judgement (on that note please stay the hell away from Brian Reed; he singlehandedly killed my love for Halo). Naomi Novik is a guilty pleasure, but she knows the importance of fan-love. She got her start writing fanfiction which eventually grew into the 9 book series Temeraire, and has a wonderful way with world painting and writes complex, engaging characters. So there's my $0.02

1 ReplyI want Randal The Vandal: This Is My Story. Detailing his struggle with addiction too Ether and Conquest for ultimate power.

I like a lot of authors. Eric Nylund had a lot of great stuff in his Halo books. Karen Traviss was pretty great, too. But, personally, I would actually like to see the author of the recent book Halo: Broken Circle, John Shirley, write a Destiny novel. He doesn't skimp on vital details, and (If science fiction was a glass panel) his writing style would be a polished and smooth-edged glass plate clear enough for your reflection to see itself! Or me. I tried writing a Destiny novel (more for personal pleasure than an attempt to have Bungie look at it) but it hit some dead ends. I could start again, but I am not the best writer.

I don't know who should, but they need to hurry up. I NEED this book!
