A new way to enjoy Skyrim

MadGeniousControllers has created a new and, might I say, awesome contraption that allows you to enjoy games in a new(ish) way. It doesn't require you to modify your game content, or Xbox in any way. This device was created to be like a regular Xbox controller, but when you want to take advantage of some of the more intensive features, you simply pull it in half. Yes this is yet another motion cap gadget, but unlike the Kinect, it will probably work with games that you actually want to play, unlike the Kinect counterparts such as Kinectimals. It appears to be slightly glitchy, but overall the actions are pretty smooth. What I like about it is you still have access to using the normal controls if the MoCap route doesn't seem to be working in your favor. Would you use something like this? Or are you still adverse to these kinds of gaming gimmicks? Personally I think it would be pretty fun to play Skyrim with it.

  • Meh. I just like playing with a controller and that's it. When you start throwing in wires, and others stuff I lose interest quickly.

  • Motion controls will always be bad until there is proper feedback

Masses of input lag, didn't look that precise (on a movement to eye level item, which in my opinion is the only level of precise there can be). Impossible to accurately and sensitively move about; it's too cubmersome. On games where the system wouldn't work, it still adds weight and heft to the controller (assuming that the wires on top of the stick are ridded of) and then the huge set of magnets in the middle of the controller would cause a HUGE amount of heating (which I think is why they used the clear perspex controller), and probably load vibrating seeing as they are electromagnets. So that would require a switch to activate and de-activate them, which would make a wireless controller with a battery life of more than .02 seconds impossible. I'm not buying it. Whatever happened to Euclideon with their groundbreaking/actually impractical ideas?

    • The only fault i could find, was the inclusion of moving irl to move your character. Its just not a good gameplay mechanic to include. That should still be left to the analogs.

      • This is pretty cool, but I don't see myself using it because I am not a fan of motion control. It also looks like the game would be somewhat difficult if you have terrible aiming abilities, a small amount of space to move, or have some kind of disability or illness.
