Could be that I found the Vanguard armor that was mentioned in the latest OXM issue.

  • I think the box is the outdated Titan Symbol, and that the "Vanguard Symbol" is the real Titan Symbol now.

  • So Vanguard is the intern/outdated name for the Titan and the box is the outdated Titan symbol? Mmmkay. I'm starting to get the feeling that you'd hate subclasses.

I like how you say that with such certainty, even though you can't know it at all.

  • Me thinks you guys are hooked on Vanguard being ANYTHING but armor since IGN did a hack job of reporting. Read the OXM.

You're sorta obsessed with that OXM article aren't you?

  • I just think that it CLEARLY tells the story IGN failed to tell, and if you read it yourself, you would be done discussing this, that's all. If I'm obsessed about anything, it's Destiny in general ;)

  • I understand where you're coming from, but why should Bungie specifically mention a Vanguard (armor) if it wasn't somehow special and worth mentioning? Yes, it could be that IGN misheard what Bungie said and thought it is a class even though is is just an armor. But how do you know that IGN is wrong and OXM right? It could also be OXM who got it wrong or just missed it that Vanguard isn't just some armor, but rather an armor for the Vanguard. Btw: I read the OXM article.

  • Well it's the way in which OXM gets it right that tells us. Read the OXM article again, they note that it was a Titan class wearing Vanguard armor. IGN tells the same story, but doesn't make that distinction. I could conceded that perhaps OXM was wrong if they had NOT mentioned the word "Vanguard". Then it would be a case of "IGN said Vanguard, OXM said Titan, who's right?" But that's not what happened. OXM clearly delivered more details on the same story. That's how we know who's right and who isn't. Lets be real though, we're so far from release, anything is possible... Bungie could see all this buzz about a Vanguard and decide to add a class, or change the name of an existing class... None of it really matters at this point in the game, right? But the point of fact remains, OXM told the story more clearly than IGN did. MOre accurately? Well we're find out someday, I guess. Not that it will be answered, but I asked Bungie to clarify in the mail sack thread. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll answer it!

I don't understand your point. Bungie could have said something like "Jason was playing with his Titan wearing a set of armour exclusive to his Vanguard specialization." IGN could have heard this as "Jason was playing with his Vanguard" and OXM as "Jason was playing with his Titan and was wearing Vanguard armour.

  • I guess.. but at this point aren't you just stretching the conditions to prove something that was baseless anyway?

  • From the eurogamer article:
Here Staten meets Jason Jones, who plays as a Titan class, described as a "serious, straight up soldier". He's wearing a Vanguard plate.
Looks like OXM was right. But couldn't this plate be the one in the character trailer with the unknown symbol? And the unknown symbol is in the character selection screen too. I'm still not convinced that Vanguard is just the name of some armour.

  • Possibly ANOTHER class? NOT Vanguard, because that's an armor piece... but something else?
