I would really like something like sub-classes you know, to specialize and such.
Unluckily I have to bring some points against your theory:
1- The symbol could have probably been a placeholder, or they could've changed it.
2- In that quote, the [Redacted] could likely be referring to a race, since they weren't yet announced by the time they opened that mailsack.
3- As someone said, the "Vanguard" name could've been changed to Titan.
Still, I hope I'm wrong because the classes "Hunter assassin" or "Warlock sorcerer" are wandering through my mind eheh

1. If I remember correctly the Vidoc and the group avatars/banners showing the class symbols were released at the same time. I don't think that they would put a placeholder or dated symbol in the Vidoc because they knew that whe will analyse every tiny bit of it and would be confused and mislead by such a thing. 2. Yup. Could be. But the question was about their favourite class. Why would he answer the question with a race? So it is possible, but still not more likely than my assumption. 3. Impossible. The IGN article mentioned the Titan, too.
3. Impossible. The IGN article mentioned the Titan, too.
IGN was quoting Joe Staten, and for all we know, the Vanguard was an internal name for the Titan. It wouldn't be the first time that it's happened, back in Reach we thought there was a new weapon called the Flak Cannon when it turns out that it was just an internal name for the Fuel Rod Cannon.

Edited by WurstsaIat: 4/3/2013 7:21:07 PM
IGN was quoting Joe Staten,
So you think at the press event Joe Staten used the alternative name Vanguard for the Titan and the person explaining the classes used the real name? This would have been pretty confusing. I don't think that Bungie would do this.
and for all we know, the Vanguard was an internal name for the Titan.
Nope, we don't know this.
It wouldn't be the first time that it's happened, back in Reach we thought there was a new weapon called the Flak Cannon when it turns out that it was just an internal name for the Fuel Rod Cannon.
I actually knew that Flak Cannon was an alternative name for the Fuel Rod Gun. Looks like I could have been useful back then, but I wasn't really active at that time.
This would have been pretty confusing. I don't think that Bungie would do this.
Except that, as I showed in an anecdote later in my post, they have. Not on purpose obviously, but slip ups can happen.

and for all we know, the Vanguard was an internal name for the Titan.
Nope, we don't know this.
...Um. Yes. That's why I said "For all we know"... such a phrase doesn't imply certainty in the conclusion, but rather uncertainty. More like "It's very likely, but it wasn't officially confirmed".

"For all we know" does imply uncertainty. It could mean something that is likely to be true, but, based on Hylebos' post, it seems that he was offering up a counterpoint without weighing in on the likelihood of either scenario.

Vanguard was the armor. Read the OXM article.

Since most seem to either gloss over it, or be AFK... Hylebos, have YOU seen the OXM article this month?
