Ada even talks about how she was wrong about the forges and that they're beginning of something greater.

I don't believe she was saying that the forges themselves were wrong, rather that she was wrong that the forges were our future. She does say they were the beginning of something greater. During DSC, she explains that the forge needs to evolve, but says that the armory is a pointless institution if it's not providing help to those who need it. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/legacys-oath-mask?highlight=ada-1 Later she says, "I once believed the Forges could be our future, but I was wrong. They were just a step on the path. And now... we walk on." This was in reference to the forges being stolen, and her having to find a new path forward. Since the forges were taken, and she cannot replicate them, the forges themselves CANNOT be the future, because they're gone. There is an entire lore book (5 parts) of her trying to rebuild the forges and then redirecting her efforts along the way. But when the forges were stolen, she almost lost herself to despair. She links her identity to the forges so closely that she felt that without the forges, she too was gone. "Forge statuses are unclear. They could've been stripped for parts, or could be operational in enemy hands. Either way, we're out of leads." Then as she finds new purpose she regains her confidence. "I am the Black Armory. They can steal all the Forges they want. but they cannot have my hands or my mind." "The Armory was more than just the Forges. It was courage and action in the face of Darkness. That spirit must live on." So she tried rebuilding the forges, but could not replicate the needed parts, and Hawthorne convinced her to open her mind to other options. So, she took some Braytech technology and combined it with her forge technology to create the loom. But the loom is not her end goal. "Maybe this can fabricate parts to remake Volundr... no, that's not the way. We need new solutions." She is still looking for a way to rebuild the forges, and the loom is hopefully just a waypoint. Each time a guardian uses the loom she says that it gives her more research data. "You get Synthweave, I get research data. It's... would have you say it? A "win-win." So her research is ongoing. And in the lore from DSC, she makes references to having the technology to potentially make the exos the most powerful group in existence, but she debates the ethics of doing so. So back to my original statement, Ada was suddenly and unceremoniously stripped her of her duty, her sense of self, and her place in the Destiny story. Making armor is great and all, but she's not even doing that. She used to forge armor, now she fashions ornaments. She even comments on the guardians use of synthweave for garish armor. The story of her forges being stolen is so vague and obscure that it seems like a slapped together plan by Bungie to remove them on a whim, which seems likely since they still show up in world. Ada went from being a central character, with Zavala recognizing the importance of her work, Lakshmi trying to recruit her for her plans, and almost every other character recognizing her value...to suddenly being relegated to helping guardians be fashionable. It's almost like the D1 version of Eva selling shaders. But Bungie can still rectify their mistakes. Ada can have a breakthrough with the Bray tech, and be able to merge it with her own and the pyramid's to create a more powerful forge. There is already some lore alluding to the pyramids/darkness being aware of her forges, and Ada worried about what they could do with it. So the forges are still out there, still on the table. Hopefully that means that Ada will have another moment to shine in the near future, and that the black armory weapons will make a return.

DSC was released in 2020. Loom released 2021. I heard Ada say today she was wrong about the forges. So..... If you're such a fan of Ada, listen to her.

I posted her exact wording, as recorded by the Destiny wiki page. So I stand by what I said. In case you missed it.... "I once believed the Forges could be our future, but I was wrong. They were just a step on the path. And now... we walk on."

Ada was never a big part of the Destiny story and wasn't even that good of a character as she was full of shady character defects and animosity. She did nothing when the city fell to Ghaul. Nothing before then. And she hoards technology and makes deals with potential enemies of the last city. She should've been exiled.
-
She did nothing with the guardians during the invasion of Gaul's red legion. Doesn't mean she did nothing at all. At that point she still didn't trust light bearers, and her goal was to arm the regular folk who needed to defend themselves, those who didn't have the light to revive them over and over. She felt like people shouldn't have to rely on guardians and should be able to defend themselves. Her efforts probably saved a lot of lives when the red legion invaded and guardians failed so spectacularly to defend the city.
-
Where does it say she armed the regular folk? And how do you justify making deals with enemies of humanity? Cmon lol.

This straight off of destinypedia. I could go through and find the individual lore pieces, but I'll leave it at this. "Ada eventually reached The Last City and set up a hidden Black Armory refuge within the walls of the growing city under the Traveler. She offered her wares to those who needed to defend themselves, but refused to work with the Vanguard and its Guardians due to her past with rogue Lightbearers."

Edited by Ferus Lux: 6/26/2022 9:16:59 PMlol imagine some random dumb human being give a Ringing Nail, running out and immediately getting domed by a Fallen Sniper and the gun being salvaged for its tech. She still made deals with enemies though and do you know how many of Spiders workers were from previous houses that slaughtered humanity? Sorry. I have zero respect for her.
-
If you have 0 respect for her for working with Spider, then you don't respect yourself. No one has worked with Spider more than the guardian. You also don't respect Ikora, who worked with him to care for the Fallen in the city. You don't respect Zavala, though I wouldn't blame you there, he's useless. You don't respect Saint-14, who has also been working with him to care for the Fallen in the city. Or Crow. Or Osiris. Or pretty much anyone else in any ranking position. Everyone has worked with Spider. So if you hate yourself so much for working with Spider, go ahead and clean out your desk and turn in your ghost by end of day. Yeah, Spider is a tool, but he's a tool we've been able to use to our advantage numerous times. As far as him having other houses under his banner, he keeps his people in line, and his fallen have never attacked us. Any fallen who he considers hostile to his plans, he mercilessly wipes out. I'm not worried about any of his subs doing anything unless he decides they need to do it, so as long as we keep a solid mutual relationship with him, and dump off truck loads of cookies during the holidays, we have nothing to worry about from him.
-
MY Guardian didn't do any of that and don't lump my House Light friends in with Spider.

And what enemies of humanity are you referring to? Spider? We made deals with him to. So the the leaders of the vanguard. Lakshmi? Everyone in the city had deals with her, and only a few knew what her real intentions were. Are you referring to the Fallen having possession of her tech? They stole it. I don't know what your sources are, but I'd like to see them.
