Is the Witness alone agent or ?

Is the Witness alone agent or working for a Greater Evil character we as guardians haven't seen yet?

The Witness is the winnower, a paracausal being as ultimate as the traveler, aka the gardener. They entered the game to spread their ideals and see which one was right. Unknowingly, they created a third god, which is the guardian( yes, that is our canon name) and we can harness the power of light and dark. They created a being more powerful than themselves. But to answer your question, the winnower is the one from the cutscene because the winnower is formless, and that entity was darkness incarnate and personified. I believe that, and though I may be wrong, the guy from the cutscene spoke to the traveler in a way that made me believe it was the one behind it all. Plus ikora and other characters speak about the witness like it has control of the darkness.

    • Personally, I think the Witness is not the true face of the darkness. We don’t have a lot to go on this early into it, but I’m basing this solely on the fact that the Witness looks nothing like the darkness statue things we’ve seen since Shadowkeep. You’d think if the Witness was the apex of its hierarchy, they’d build statues to its image and not into the shrouded feminine figure we’ve seen in almost every darkness-related activity for 3 years.

      • Its hard to say but i think even the witness follows something, it might not be an individual but a collective or an ideal Chances are the witness and the pyramids are further linked than we think Perhaps evolutionary steps for the same species Or..his species was once the inhabitants of the living city ships

      • The Witness seems to be the boss since it's behind pretty much all the events of destiny plus it uses the darkness rather than the darkness using it, like most people originally thought

      • I think the Witness is the big bad we've been looking for, the way it talks about the Traveller makes it seem like it's been the one leading the chase.

I think the witness is the greater evil character.
