I have a simlar sort of issue, I tried a VPN and it worked.....

That... actually worked! Well, sort of. I play regularly on PS4, but in order to isolate the problem I tried D2 on PC in my home network as well. I even tried it on a new account, but the problem still persisted. But via VPN it actually works on PC. This raises a couple of questions. Since it cannot be my account that's blocked/banned/restricted, I've checked and double checked my network settings (heck, even consulted a professional on this), and my ISP tells me nothing has been changed at their end... what exactly is blocked here? And why? This all started when I updated the game on Thursday. I launched, and immediately when trying to join my friends' fireteam the problems started.

Edited by Crisidelm: 10/25/2021 4:52:29 PMSo, you said you cleared your console cache, so let's say that is okay. Then, it's either your network gear (modem/router; rebooted? Even, reset them?), the settings applied (DNS servers, Upnp/PortForwarding, one or the either, not both etc) or your ISP is not being completely transparent with you about your inquiries

Yes, I have done a full reset on my router. I have tried UPnP or port forwarding, I had UPnP enabled before but changed to port forwarding to test, as instructed in Bungie's network troubleshooting guide. Sure, perhaps my ISP might not be fully transparent about my inquiries (you mean they might have lied). But why would they do that? So that I don't get my Conqueror title gilded this season? Or it might be possible that Bungie indeed has some issues with their servers. Can we even remotely consider the possibility taken all these recent posts about sudden connection issues, crashes and bans? My game and has been working flawlessly for the past three years, and all the other online games on my PS4 still work just fine (yes I know, not all games are the same and some are more connection intensive than others). Also, please note the recent post by FlArE OdEsSy. He had similar issues and it appears using VPN solved it. I am not trying to blame anyone here or make anyone feel guilty. If I'm mistaken I will admit it and post it here. I simply have a show-stopping problem and after days of trying out different things, consulting people who know these things better than I do, and reading & posting on forums, I would just like to get back playing the game I love very much.

Edited by Crisidelm: 10/25/2021 6:18:14 PMThe fact that using a VPN gets rid of your (and other players') problem casts a long shadow over your (and their) network (settings) and/or the ISP; if it was on Bungie, even using a VPN wouldn't solve it, furthermore the problem would affect thousands and thousands of players, and this forum would be overrun by posts like yours (trust me, I have seen that happening before). I haven't had a single problem ever since the last hotfix, and like me the vast majority of players. I understand the frustration, but analyzing the problem with a cool head helps.

Sure. But what would you suggest? I think I have tried pretty much everything except confront my ISP about their lies and deception. Since I'm fairly sure I am geographically separated from other people having this same problem, it seems different ISPs suddenly have the same issue.

What's your ISP by the way?
-
Elisa (in Finland).
-
I see. I don't see any notice of problematic connections out of your geographic region, nor about Destiny 2 specifically for that matter.
-
Yup. My internet connection works and has been working just fine. Aside from this one particular instance. And my ISP hasn't reported any problems in their network, not in my particular region or even in the entire country. No maintenance work, nothing.
