What started with me looking into why all of my most-used weapons were Arc and Void, turned into me browsing my Collections and getting a rough idea of the loot pool come season 12.
Apparently the reason my weapons are all Arc and Void is because the Energy weapons I use the most (Pulse Rifles, Bows, Slug Shotguns and Swords) all have extremely limited Solar element options.
Really wish Bungie would let us swap our weapon elements again...
*The Season 11 Count category includes all random roll weapons, Leviathan Raid weapons (because I know some of them still get used) as well as Pinnacle and Ritual weapons.
I won't say the numbers are exact since some of the Pinnacle weapons don't show up in my Collections at all, and i had to manually add them to the season 11 count. So there may be more missed weapons.
The chart also doesn't take into account every single damage type - weapon archetype combo, because there would be even more red covering it.
-------
Things I learned about the remaining Legendary weapons while making this:
- Of the Energy elemental types, Arc is the most used, Void is the least used and Solar sits in the middle.
- Arc leans most heavily into Primary weapons. Making up roughly half of the remaining Primary weapon options.
- Solar leans most heavily into Special weapons. Making up roughly half of the remaining Special weapon options.
-- On a related note, exactly one fifth of all remaining Solar element weapons will be Sniper Rifles even though they're only one weapon class out of sixteen.
--- On another related note, roughly half of the remaining Sniper Rifles will be Solar Rapid-Frames (seriously, why that many?).
- Void is evenly spread among all ammo classes, but only makes up roughly a mere fourth of the Primary and Special Energy weapons respectively. Only having a comparable number of Heavy weapons.
- Historically Slug Shotguns have been exclusively Arc element, the one remaining Slug Shotgun continues this trend. There has never been a Solar or Void Slug Shotgun.
-- On a related note, there has only ever been a single Kinetic Slug Shotgun to exist, and it is getting sunsetted.
- Roughly half of the (already limited) remaining Bows were from Raid loot pools that were given exceptions to sunsetting.
-- On a related note, there will be no random roll wold drop Precision Bow of any kind starting season 12.
-------
Also, on top of the holes in the loot pool shown in the image; season 12 needs to take into account 17 more weapons that will be sunset when that season concludes. Most notably:
- Exactly Half of the remaining Sidearms, and one of the two remaining non-Power Grenade Launchers.
- Every last Linear Fusion Rifle.
