I recently set up a third computer in our household so three of us can play together. The problem is we can't all connect. Two of us have successfully played together on the same fireteam, before. What's new: (1) this third computer on the same LAN, and (2) Bungie's recent switch to Steam's server system.
Now, with the third computer, any two computers seem to be able to connect (i.e., A&B, B&C, A&C), but as soon as a third tries, one of us gets disconnected; usually, it's the third player that's disconnected, but not always. The only thing I haven't tried is hard-wiring the third computer (it's the only one on WiFi), but that doesn't make sense as it's able to successfully connect to at least one other hard-wired computer.
This sounds like it's entirely on Bungie's end, but just in case: Is it actually possible to have a fireteam of 3+ using the same LAN? Has anyone actually, successfully done this since Bungie's recent switch to Steam's server system?
EDIT: Yes, UPNP is enabled on my router and has been for ages. I do have port forwarding enabled for ports 443 & 80, but that's not for Destiny 2.

short answer Yes, with the right router. Do a search on the subject and find one in your price range that will do what you want.

Edited by Mauno Mato: 3/31/2020 12:38:05 PMUnless Bungie has some kind of restriction of letting 1 client per 1 public IP connect, it should work just fine and as you already got 2 connected it does not seem to be the case. Especially since they moved on to Steam Network Socket recently, it could be Steam not allowing clients to connect, check this guide out maybe it helps: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6370-QPHJ-3567 Edit: even if not specified, those ports were only for HL/CSGO, or it's some general port for any game connecting to Steam, still worth a try... But adding these ports to the firewall manually could also help: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13610 UPnP is reliable until you have multiple clients triggering it.

Edit: I forgot to mention it, but my friends on Xbox that did have it working had to manually select different Ports for traffic in Xbox Network Settings. I don't know if that is an neccessary on Steam or not.

2 RepliesMost people are lucky if they can get 2 to work off the same Router in the same household. In most Console cases, they have to have 1 person on Etherent LAN and the other person on WIFi. And sometimes it plain refuses to allow the second access. I have never heard of it working with 3 at all.
