there are only 2 reasons one can be restricted from pvp activities, one is connection issues and the second is cheating/playing with a cheater. I am going to assume it is the former and post bungie's statement on connection restrictions along with their tips for improving the connection.
Beginning soon, players with the most unreliable connections will receive an in-game warning. We know that connection quality is fluid, so don’t worry if you have occasional, temporary issues.
If you receive one of these warnings, please visit the Network Troubleshooting Guide. If your connection does not improve, there are additional guides available that can help you in diagnosing advanced network issues. If all else fails, contact your ISP for assistance.
If your connection does not improve after an in-game warning, and we continue detecting a negative impact on other Guardians, restrictions from PvP activities may be applied to your account.
If a restriction is applied to your account, you will be unable to participate in PvP for two weeks. If you continue to play on an unreliable connection that harms the experience of other players, that restriction may be extended.
(source)
If for some reason you are not able to improve the stability of your connection, it is recommended to refrain from playing pvp activities as the negative side effects of your connection will lead to longer restrictions.
Connection based restrictions:
1st is 2 weeks
2nd is 2 months
3rd is permanent

I can say that I'm not a cheater (have no idea if I ever playyed with one). I know that I don't have the best connection in the world but I have been using the same since I got D2 a year ago and that's the first time something like yhat happened to me, and it's not just from pvp but I can't do any activity with matchmaking (strikes,gambit...).
-
False on the last comment, you are only restricted from crucible and gambit. You can still access strikes, menargerie and reckoning. Please don't be dramatic
-
I know for strikes and reckoning but I can't do gambit. And I'm not being dramatic put yourself in my place being an honest player and never doing something against bungie policy even though there is a bunch of guys doing so, and in the end you are banned just like any one of them.
-
Do not try and win the pity argument, I've just finished 2 months of restriction, I am WELL aware of what happens. But you were being dramatic by trying to claim when ALL matching making sources were locked when in reality only 2 of them were. So yeah, I could put myself in your shoes, but I would still feel the same, cause I've been there, done that. Just fix your internet - most of the time a wired connection is all it takes.
-
Man I'm not trying to win a thing, I was banned and that was the first time something like that hapoened to me, I had to understand what's going on, I said all matchmaking because that's what they told me and I didn't try to play after the ban. That's the whole of it. I think I'm gonna switch to a wired connection you are the second one telling me so and also I have that kind of issue only with Destiny. Thanks anyways.
-
Yes, a wired connection is highly recommended, also try using google dns on top of that, the ports are as follows.. 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4
-
Thank you mate, I'll try that
-
Sweet, just shoot me that internet speed once you've got that rigged up for confirmation that you'll be all good
-
I'm gonna take it easy for that game especially crucible when those freaking 2 weeks are done so I think it'll be okay, thanks for sticking with me about that issue.
-
and it's not just from pvp but I can't do any activity with matchmaking (strikes,gambit...).
Right, this is normal when you have been detected with connection issues. They recently started enforcement of their policies so people who may not have known they were causing issues for others are getting notices for the first time.
-
There was no warning before that, and with shadowkeep coming out in two weeks I really don't know what to do.
-
Fix your connection and wait the 2 weeks. It is all you can do
