The House of Bourbon was the original ruling royal house of the first Kingdom of France, ruling from the Ancien Regime’s inception until the French Revolution of 1789. After the fall of Napoleon, they were briefly restored until 1830, when they were replaced by the House of Orléans.
Unlike the more liberal Orléans, the Bourbon’s are highly conservative, and when in power, typically rule France under a conservative absolute monarchy. Meanwhile, the Orléans’ would rule with a constitutional monarchy.
