My battlenet had its own Bungie profile created automatically. All attempts to re-link them properly result in a strange placeholder account appearing as you can see here https://imgur.com/a/e2MKgdy
If you are trying to unlink the battle.net account to start the recovery process, you cannot be signed into a Bungie.net profile using the account you are attempting to unlink, this is why it is greyed out.
Try signing out of the Bungie.net profile then signing in using either the PlayStation or Xbox account that are linked (the ones shown in your image above). Once you do you should be able to correctly unlink the battle.net account from your profile.
You can find more information on recovering a Bungie.net profile here.

I've already ran through this a few times. I have no problem unlinking and relinking the account from this profile, and I've done it several times while talking with BNGHelp6 through DM's - the problem is that even after successfully unlinking and re-linking it, signing in using the proper Battlenet credentials, it becomes a placeholder again. I can even sign out right now, sign back in using the Battlenet option for log-in, and it will take me to this very profile I am posting from. But then if I go to account settings, it shows as an unnamed placeholder still. If you inspect my profile, you will see no Battlenet linked, even though I just signed in using my Battlenet.

I’m unable to view the accounts linked to the profile you’re currently on except for your Xbox account because they are hidden from public view. It sounds like you are unlinking and relinking the battle.net account to the same profile. You keep mentioning linking a “temp” battle.net account to your profile, there is no reason to do this if you are just attempting to relink your battle.net account to it’s original profile. It sounds like you can unlink it successfully from your profile. So once you unlink the battle.net account you are attempting to relink to the original Bungie.net profile, you’ll need to fully sign out of all Bungie.net profile(s). Then, simply attempting to sign in to the original battle.net account (the one you’re trying to link to the original profile. You will be prompted with the recovery process when you do this. If you are not prompted with this, unfortunately you have not successfully unlinked the account from all Bungie.net profiles. You will need to reattempt the steps above, which are also listed in the article I linked earlier.

The Blizzard profile is checked "display on public profile" but it doesn't display like it should. The "temp" account is the one that was automatically generated for me with the accounts were unlinked originally. I renamed it, and then linked my PSN to it, which would allow me to unlinked the Battlenet. I then linked the Battlenet to this profile here, and it isn't showing up, as I've explained. I fully removed the Battlnet link from this account, and from the other "temp" account, and still here I am. I only re-linked it because "BNGHelp6" told me to; I can unlink it at any time and produce the same results.

While talking with BNGHelp6, I tried this: I unlinked my PSN from this profile. Then I logged in to the auto-generated "orphaned" account, which had my Battlenet linked, and I linked the PSN to that one (also renamed it Refl3xesTemp to keep track of it). This allowed me to unlink the Battlenet from the auto-generated account. I then followed steps to link it properly to this account again. This just resulted in the placeholder reappearing. Now I can log in through the Battlenet credentials and it will take me to this profile, although the link doesn't actually appear to work other than that.

This account is 8 years old. If you are logged in using your battlenet login then you are on your account. If you are looking for a 10 year old account it could be that you orphaned that account more then 90 days ago and if that's the case you can't recover it at all. Also you would need to recover it using the account you make it with 10 years ago so it would need to an Xbox account and it cannot have had any name changes or email changes.
-
Sorry, I rounded 8 years up to 10. I was quite obviously referring to this account but thanks for pointing out something useless, appreciate the help.

I don't understand your issue, if you are on this account and signing in on you battlenet brings you to this account what is the issue you are having still since you are apparently not unlinked from your old account?
-
Account is "linked" to this one but not working as it should. I can log in using Blizzard credentials and it takes me to this very profile. If i go to account settings, and go to linking, I have a "dummy" account shown with no name associated with it. I have "show on public profile" checked even, but if you view my profile you will only see an Xbox GT I just ran through everything again - unlinking the "dummy" by actually having to sign in with proper credentials, even - and I'm back where I was. They are supposedly linked, but I see this when I check my accounts and linking page https://imgur.com/a/2RFSnrq

Okay thanks for the report. Yeah it should be displaying your name. You can log in fine that's good so the only issue remaining is your account isn't displaying, correct? May I ask what is your Battlenet name, please spell it with the exact spelling you used including any special characters and your battlenet numbers included too.

Yeah, sorry I got snappy at first I've been with this for way too long today lol. I hope that last message cleared it up... The account isn't displaying, and I also still don't have access to the Planet of Peace emblem in my inventory (still says it requires an exclusive item). I'm just concerned this will cause more problems moving forward, if it isn't fixed now. My Bnet is "Refl3xes#1197" and the GT associated with this bungie profile is "R e f l 3 x e s" for whatever that's worth. The whole thing with moving my PSN to a dummy account, linking/unlinking etc. was a suggestion from BNGHelp6, and I still have that PSN linked to "Refl3xesTemp" which I should probably fix once this is all cleared up.
-
The Planet of Peace emblem may not be working because of that or it could be a different issue. Can you check this link when on a computer and signed into your account. https://www.bungie.net/en/Profile/Codes/ Make sure it lists the emblem as and has the date redeemed next to it. If it says redeem click redeem. If it's not there then this account doesn't have the code for the emblem.

When you sign in now, after all of the things you have done since your first post - what credentials are you using? Are you signing in with your linked Xbox account? Or are you signing in with the battle.net name and password you are trying to re link?
-
Either method gets me logged into this account, which you might think would imply the connection is actually there it just isn't displaying properly somehow. I can log out and back in now with either account (just double checked) and it takes me to this, but when I go to "accounts and linking" in my settings I see the same thing I showed you in the last imgur link (well, the grey and red unlink buttons are swapped depending on which account I signed in with at least)
-
Sorry if you have answered this already between our last conversation, with the BNGHelp, or elsewhere - have you tried unlinking the battle.net profile whole logged into the Xbox profile?
-
Yeah, I actually just tried it again a few minutes ago after another Bungie employee suggested that on a Reddit post I made. I can unlink the account with no problem. Linking it back, while appearing to work correctly, just takes me back to this state it is in now, where I can sign in using Xbox or Battlenet to this very profile but I still have the "placeholder" there. While unlinking this placeholder, which I just did to test again, I even have to verify the Blizzard credentials correctly. And then again when re-linking, I have to verify by logging in. But after all that, it's still a placeholder that appears.
-
Thanks. At this point I’m collecting info. Sorry to say there’s not much I can do beyond that (or I would have after our last conversation), but I’m passing your issue and answers along.

I appreciate it. This seems to be a strange bug that isn't resolving itself like it should, so I understand that it might not be easy to fix. I just hope that someone can help, or that this can be manually linked by someone, somewhere lol. I can probably just make a new Bungie account to use moving forward if I need to, but I still want to avoid doing that (and want to get my emblem back more than anything really).
