(Well, as if there weren’t enough already)
So, I was playing through Homecoming for the 9th and final time yesterday, and I still had not gotten tired of Journey. It’s a great piece.
Anyways, I was thinking of a pretty neato exotic idea, in which as it reloads and fires, it goes to the tune of a certain boss soundtrack in the game. At first, it would only have one boss track, but as you kill Xol, Claus, Gary, etc., you get more and more.
Say if it’s a faster paced theme, it would fire and reload faster, at the cost of impact and stability. If it’s a little slower with heavier notes, the slower it would reload and fire, but it would have more impact and handling.
Also, instead of having certain perks boosting different stats, the music you have chosen would determine everything.
If a catalyst was needed, since I would assume this would be a Pulse Rifle, perhaps Full Auto would work out?
And for legacy players or people who have bought D1, legacy tracks would be added, however the stats would be the exact same as different fights in D2, but still fire differently. PC players would get these tracks immediately. I suppose you could consider these as ornaments for stats?
Final thing, I’ve always liked the way Rasputin sounded in that last cutscene, so perhaps the music could sound like the feedback of his voice (not necessarily him talking), or maybe the Oracles from VoG.
If you want to put a specific weapon to all these requirements, here you go:
The Ruinous Apple
”The chimes of the apples which shall not be sung”
Stats: 0 on everything (until a song is chosen)
Intrinsic Perk: Choose a song from the list of bosses. The gun will fire at the pace of the music and select the stats for the song.
Bonus Exotic Perk: If the clip is emptied, a yellow, damaging shockwave will erupt from the gun. (It would sound like an Oracle bursting)
Tell me what you think of it.
