Death and fast travel are legitimate complaints.
Otherwise, switch your weapon before holding reload to interact with some other portion of the game.

I don't understand why you should have to do that. Interacting with something should take priority over the weapon elemental switch, they shouldn't both be activating.

Because it isn't activated until the activation cast circle completes. The game is initially following the instruction you've given of holding the reload button to execute the command in that order. I'm one of the last people who would/will make excuses for Bungie, but I'd bet this would be a pain in the ass to code around.

Why should it be that difficult? When you start a reload, then interact with something (at least when you use the Ghost for the interaction), it doesn't finish your reload, so why is this treated differently?
