I understand why people want random rolls and the grind for them. Personally I’m not a fan of grinding for a piece with a god roll. Rather grind for a .01% crazy item with a static roll or sparrow/ship (Like I did everyday in WoW for 7 years.)
So I will explain some thought on trying to expand the mod system to hopefully come to a solution on the forum that both sides will enjoy!
I do hope the mod system can bring in the ability to chase god rolls on gear for those who want to chase, and give them a reason to. With mods solely for certain gear, I believe they can balance everything but allow things to push the limits of the balance without breaking it.
That being said, I don’t think it’s at that point yet.
They need to push it further with say legendary and exotic mods let’s say. Modify the mod system for that. 1st mod is always masterworking it for PvP or PvE. Then the item can be modded further from there. If it’s masterworked PvP then the mods going it would ONLY be PvP-centric. And vice versa. That way theoretically you c an then balance both modes separately. And on the mod it says, only functions in PvP or PvE.
Have Faction Rallies have mods to grind for, same with IB, Crucible and Trials, raids. Could even go further and have the mods say only functions in Trials or IB or Raids. Then you could further balance from there theoretically.
Having grinding things viable for the off chance of those legendary/exotic mods dropping. Have some available only during in game events. Have NONE behind Eververse.
TL;DR see why people want random rolls, don’t like it. Think Mod system can work, just drastically needs to be expanded upon. Will work with whatever happens.
Let’s expand our thoughts constructively to get Bungie a clear path on unity of the player base!
