You will never feel as powerful as you did in Year 1.
This is a problem. When every successive expansion or new game release makes you feel weaker than you did previously, people are just going to lose interest. And I get the "Ghaul took our power" argument, but it doesn't apply to mechanics. There's no excuse for why guns should hold less bullets, feel less crisp, and have functional and enjoyable systems stripped from the fundamental game play of Destiny.
Bungie is forcing us to play a reload simulator with watered down versions of what we used to use. Remember how strong year 1 Auto rifles felt? 42 bullets in the magazine of a high impact, very stable wrecking machine with field scout. Remember how good it felt to get that first legendary sniper rifle from the Vault of Glass? Sure, it was a low impact sniper, but DAMN it was awesome to have full stability AND full reload speed with a nice snappy scope and tons of reserve ammo. How about how nice it is to clear some of those repeatedly forgettable add waves by chaining supers, using shotguns and rocket launcher? Even my Crowd Control Jolder's Hammer with field scout was incredibly fun to have in my arsenal, on top of countless other weapons I used regularly for the fun and powerful factor.
They're basically saying "never again" and slowing everything down to artificially create a sense of difficulty in PvE and balance PvP. That's not how balance works. Giving everyone the same weak garbage makes Destiny feel less like Destiny, which was the only thing it had going for it. It felt different than other games, mechanically. Snipers felt crisp. Abilities had that "cool" factor. Hell, even sprinting around on my titan and blasting forward through the air with a high knee to get a little boost of speed every few seconds felt freaking awesome.
It's impossibly frustrating and the only thing that I can think of -- also given what I've seen from livestreams -- is that their developers are actually stupid. Like just really dumb people that have a job and do it poorly because they can't come up with anything better. I mean, when you buff a weapon class by 0.04% and try to rationalize how "in the long run, those extra bullets per ten thousands will matter", you're not leading me to think any differently. But it'll cost the business in the long run. Right now, they can continue to ride the hype of something new-ish and the name "Bungie", but it'll only go so far. Once the 13-17 year old crowd jumps off the bandwagon, they won't have much left.

Things should get better over time. Not worse and certainly not for 3 years

Edited by Spendgame: 8/13/2017 8:51:41 PMYear 1 destiny was awful. A lot of you guys don't seem to understand that you're part of the vocal minority.

Show me your statistics to prove that. I have a statistic for you though. http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/destiny User Score 6.1. 5k+ user votes. Oh but you're going to say that "people are biased and trolling". Well if that's true, they can troll every game, right! By that logic, no game should ever get a high score because trolls will always hate to bring the rating down! http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/borderlands-2 User Score 8.2, 2.5k user votes. OMG people actually like fun things! Borderlands is a simpler game, a loot grind, yet has a super engaging and hilarious story, a fun assortment of weapons, and where everyone manages to feel OP at the same time. I guess people really like FUN PVE after all! Don't make me pull up Call of Duty User Scores.....

Year 1 destiny had the lowest pvp player retention in the 3 years of D1. It sucked. But if you're going to stick with ratings and reviews the ttk and roi earned rave reviews compared to vanilla.

http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/destiny-rise-of-iron http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/destiny-the-taken-king TTK slightly up, ROI way down. Fact stands that if they stuck with what the game was supposed to be, and pushed PvE and a massive open world instead of dicking around with PvP and ruining everything as a result, ratings would be way higher.

Borderlands doesn't keep a high population or even get high sales to begin with because it doesn't focus on pvp. This game is from the makers of Halo and the publishers of COD. If you didn't think it was going to have a huge emphasis on pvp then you weren't paying attention.

Damn this post was perfect. Bravo my man.

Agreed completely... D1 was possibly my favourite game of all time but sadly I've lost interest 😢
-
The thing you dont get is you think all of this is gone, yet you have only played a beta version of the game, witch they have stated that some things have changed. Give it a chance to give you those moments, or you know what dont because NEWS FLASH you dont have to...... I'm going to because its still felt like destiny to me but with more thinking involved amd a balance pvp which in the end after everything is done is what most people play in the end
-
They even nerfed the framerate
-
All these posts about supers being rare, I want mine to be medium well
-
I want blood in my Steak! ;) that's where all flavor is!!!

But it's grosssssss

I like how gamers are trying to justify this company's deliberate poor actions. Using this nonsense "they took our light" as an excuse to why Bungie watered down the entire game. just because the "light" was (controlled) not "taken" doesn't mean the entire game needed to be watered down knowing you will get that light back. Nice try guys that are trying to defend this company's deliberate poor actions once again 3 years later. It's more then obvious that the light is Not gone because of the abilities that your characters still have. The "taken" the light scenario with a cheap move to use as an excuse. Oh by the way community, the ones that asked for the tower to be blown up. You gave this company the idea to take more from this game that never needed to be removed. Thank you for your feedback. -
Well that's because the game was made by Joseph Staten and he left. He obviously made an amazing game and that's why year 1 was the best "feeling" compared to now. There were only a few things that needed adjustments but these current devs went too far. Ever since Staten left all the "left-over" devs have been picking it apart and chopping it up trying to make it their own. Theives. They have officially destroyed the magic of the game. The devs obviously didn't understand his vision for the game and I don't think they will ever make Destiny the way it was meant to be played. They just continue to make Destiny worse and worse imo. The game now feels terribly stale. No amount of content will fix the lack of originality. My only guess is they must have gave Luke Smith way too much creative control over Destiny, and because he is stuck in the past on a game he can't let go he continues to force Destiny into a Halo mould. These devs are garbage and I can say that confidently because after three years and a sequel, everything has progressively gotten worse gaming-wise. I'm sure there are probably a few great devs at Bungie, but who can even be acknowledged or utilized properly with a phony like Smith in house and in control and the naive boss who gave it to him. The feel of the game, guns, and abilities all mould together with no distinction or creativity now. Generic. That's because the original creator of Destiny is long gone along with his vision for the game.

Read the first sentence then gave up. We literally just lost our light. So no shit we're weaker in d2
-
Read the first sentence then gave up??? Seems to be the way of the world these days... Obviously why the game has been watered and dumbed down to cater for this attitude... 😞
-
No not really. It's the same half ass baked argument as every other 12 year old who think people will take him seriously if he puts I'm paragraphs of the same cry over and over again.
Read the first sentence then gave up. We literally just lost our light. So no shit we're weaker in d2
Lol Weak at best argument when everyone knows they have watered this game down continuously. As if "they took our light" is cause to justify everything else that has happened this last couple years. The only thing you just said is, Bungie only swept it under the rug.... -
No not really. D1 is a lot different then d2 nothing is -blam!-ing watered down your just to ignorant to see that

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that. -
