Destiny is NOT CoD: We Don't Want Our Abilities To Be "Rare"

This isn't CoD. This is Destiny. [b]Using space magic is what defines Destiny and what sets it apart from other games.[/b] Putting PvE and PvP together does not work. You cannot reconcile the two - they have completely different needs and skill requirements. Placating to one hurts the other when they are tied to the same sandbox. You'd think after 3 years of repeated failure to balance the two together that you'd have learned this lesson by now.... [b]The Bungie Update mentioned ability "tweaks", but it ALSO mentioned the fact that abilities like our grenades and melees should be "rare". [/b]This is clearly a PvP decision due to the excessive whining about grenade and melee deaths. This decision is made at the expense of PvE, which is the actual game. [b]Destiny isn't about guns - it's about Nova Bombs, Golden Guns, Tripmines, Axion Bolts, and Fists that frequently induce Havoc.[/b]

    This isn't CoD...or Battlefield. In those games, 6 bullets are a kill, not something a player laughs at before activating their Super to "win" a firefight.

    It is still a shooter, don't forget that. If you wanna play a game with excessive magic use, I highly suggest playing the Elder Scrolls games. And people like you you should also respect the wishes of the developers and minds behind this game for once. Even though they made the game for us, these guys are also just gamers like us AND have their own visions for the game. Saying what you want and don't give a damn about opinions of the guys behind this game is just a selfish attitude. The ability changes might be made for a less frustrating PvP experience but if the stuff is powerful enough in the final game I see no problem to emphatise a playstyle focused a bit more on shooting. Not to mention there are now class abilities as well. Also with ability spam a game can just be as generic as any other game. So I don't understand the hype about all that "abilities" (what kind of abilities anyway....a grenade? Cauz that's all the abilities, lol).

  • Kinda thinking, given the plot for D2, that having our abilities made "rare"but effective nonetheless, is because the traveler/our light is weaker. Everyone moaned about weapon balance, yet all of of a sudden they forget about weapon balance and moan about ability balance. Truly scraping the bottom of the barrel.

      Getting a super in PvP while leveling up is rewarding. Getting a super in PvP = fun period. No one likes to get killed with it no matter what you say however, Using a super to try and get a team wipe is a goal. This is why I love my super. In the beta, there were games where I was the only one who got a super before the game ended. Those guardians I killed must have been sad not to have revenged me. So the percentage has changed in the current version? Ok cool. Everyone should be able to gain a super. It's just damn fun. BUNGIE, you need to learn what makes the game fun and raise the level up. Not Nerf it.

    • I didn't realize the whole "fun" part about PvE is being able to throw a lot of grenades. Idk what all the crying is about. I enjoyed Homecoming and the Inverted Spire strike. D2 PvP is the most balanced it has ever been. Do people just like to cry or?

      • Yeah, yeah. You want supers and abilities every other second so you can cheese your way through everything. Everyone's heard the constant complaining about this. The basic complaint is "I want it to be more fun", which translates to "I want it to be more easy". How about people just wait and play the whole game. And the cool down for supers and abilities didn't really feel too long. The super would fill the more kills you got sooooooo, i don't know, maybe start playing the game well with skilled gunplay instead of relying on crutch abilities. Not to mention the fact that its likely the further you progress the quicker the cool down for everything. Jeez people, do you have to complain about everything?

          As long as PvP gamers keep asking for "balance" in a game knowing Destiny wasn't created to be balanced things will never change. The sandbox literally can not handle a game like this and refuse to admit it, and the higher ups either don't care or just really naive. So, PvE is always going to be dumped on no matter how many times this topic is brought up. And Luke smith is worse then a stubborn mule. When you have a company that is so disconnected to when it comes to their player base it makes matters worse. So hearing this company say... "We hear you loud and clear" "We are listening" "Your feedback is important to us" Is just this companies way of saying, we hear you but we really don't care and are doing things are way for the new gamers. See, new gamers haven't seen the damage that has been done so they aren't going to be concerned about the things that you or many gamers that have been around for a while might have. It's a shame when you look at a Guardian from y1 to now on how much they have actually been stripped from back then.

          You know what? I think this TWAB was talking about PvE. Do you really think Bungie is simply catering to what the PvP community want? They are the one who made this fantasy of using abilities. They are the ones who put that difference in this game. Do you think they would seriously just sacrifice all that makes this game different for the sake of one way of playing this game? What you are doing is projecting your fantasies onto Destiny. Who told you that Destiny was just about throwing all these abilities all the time? Bungie didn't say that. And even if they did, they just redefined it in the TWAB. You have no right to tell Bungie what their creation is going to be about, or how it should play overall. This is their vision. The Destiny Community needs to stop acting like abilities have vanished. They are still there, all well and good. And you will get to use them. Just not as much as we get to use them now. Bungie said they are [i][b]slightly[/b] more rare[/i]. Not sparse and uncommon. We are going from a 30 second ability cool down to maybe 60 or 70 seconds (I have no idea, this is just a guess). It's not that big of a deal. It means that you need to think about how you will use abilities effectively, and not just spam them and take them for granted. There is nothing wrong with that. With this setup, everyone will still get to use abilities. And the gameplay balance between guns and abilities will be preserved. What is there to cry about?

          • This game will go through the same shit as the first game with the balancing issues, even with dumbed down skill trees and no random weapon rolls, having pve and pvp not separated in a game like this will only lead to constant imbalance. There's no way they can't know this after three years of trying and failing to balance the two, it just feels lazy to force this broken system in the sequel.

            • I will be frank and honest here. There is no reasonable justification for how fast I could toss out nades as a firebro. If I stacked my gear and talents right, I could practically throw endless grenades and reduce the cooldown. That kind of mechanical manipulation is 100% unintentional and should have been corrected the moment it was discovered. If they want a bit more rare, with a big payoff, it better have the big payoff. It's better than grenade spam. As for Melee, sorry guys, I played a titan so I only know the losing side of that ranged fight. Melee is still there, it's super charged version is adjusted to reduce the same scenario as above. It would be nice to have something to do with grenades and melee, to offset the adjustment of their usage time. Like give these abilities a mod tree or something, that way we can apply some effects to them that alter their usage in ways. I would throw a shield charge pulse nade at my friends face, any day.

                As a Guardian who has invested heart, love and thousands of hours into Destiny, i think you're wrong on all fronts. I WANT MICROTRANSACTION SKINS. I HAVE MONEY. We, the gamers, are very rich. We do not care about spending $10-100 because "bruh, its just $20, get a job, bruh" logic. With that magnificent logic some braindead Guardians have, i will adore spending dozens, if not hundreds of dollars in a game that will be completely gone and forgotten in 2-3 years. Its f*cking great, Guardians. I will spend $250 on microtransactions alone, guardians! Who's with me, Guardians? WHO IS WITH ME!?

                  • Totally correct don't Bungle realise that the majority of players think MAYHEM is the most enjoyable, that is the game where Abilities recharge quick and SUPERS are used the most, yet they choose to hamper us even more 😖. Please bungle wake the hell up, so what if supers are killing people more, everybody would still be in the same boat.

Or whatever other gun you were excited for? I guess all you cared about was leveling up your toon high enough to use those awesome sticky grenades? Sure space magic is a part of the game. But jiminy cricket, this game is so much about chasing loot! How do you not see that? That means GUNS. Just chill out. This game isn't even out yet. Bungie. Please.
