  • At it's core, the Killing Floor series is about a group of players teaming up to survive multiple waves of mutants (named Zeds), earning money in the process that they can spend on upgrades inbetween rounds. In killing floor 2, you have the a variety of character to choose to play as (purely for aesthetics and voice lines), and a series of classes to use and level up: -Berserker, specializing in close range combat -Gunslinger, specializing in pistols -Firebug, specializing in setting zeds on fire -Sharpshooter, specializing in precision weapons -Commando, specializing in automatic rifles -Support, specializing in shotguns -Field Medic, specializing in healing allies -Demolitionist, specializing in explosives -SWAT, specializing in submachine guns -Survivalist, specializing in no specific weapons. The class you choose affects the weapons you start with (other than a universal 9mm pistol), the grenades you start with, what your fallback knife will be, and what abilities you may have (as an example, the support carries an ammo bag to resupply players once a wave). As you play, these classes can be leveled up to provide small buffs and one of two perks at every five levels (up to level 25). Besides your class starting gear and the 9mm pistol, you will also carry a medical injector and a hand welder. The medical injector can be used to heal yourself or a teammate, but has a cooldown between each usage. The hand welder can be used to seal (and/or booby-trap if you're a demolionist) any set of doors you close, forcing zeds to either break the doors down or go around. It recharges itself over time, and can always be used as long as it has a charge. Matches can be four, seven, or ten waves long, but will always have an extra boss wave at the end. There are two bosses currently, each with an automatic weapon, some explosives, a means to heal themselves, and a pattern that changes as the fight progresses (as well as help from some fodder zed when their health gets low). There are multiple types of zed for you to kill in every wave. Some types, such as the siren and husk, will only appear after a certain wave. Two that appear even later, the scrake and fleshpound, will announce themselves upon spawning; as these enemies will kill (almost) any player trying to fight them alone. Zed will act differently and take different amounts of damage based on the difficulty. If needed, I can explain the zeds further, but would prefer to do so in a separate post. Killing zeds and surviving waves earns you dosh, which you can spend at an active trader pod. One pod will activate at the end of each round, and the game will do it's best to help you find it before the next wave starts (and even before the current wave ends, through a compass on your HUD). There you can buy armor, ammo, grenades, and stronger weapons. The map will also spawn boxes of ammo, and sometimes starter-tier weapons and armor, with the rates affected by the difficulty. The time between waves is about one minute. If you get tired of being the guy/gal with a gun, you can always play VS survival to play as an enhanced version of a zed, and try and kill some fellow players. Oh, and there's also taunts and weapon skins you can get, and accessories.

To a degree, but with more gore, metal, long-term upgrades for future matches (in the form of class levels), and no reviving (just dropping the equipped weapon, dying, and respawning at the end of the wave with some dosh). Oh, and more brits and slow motion.
