Focused Fire - Tapping, Genesis Chain, Affects on Medium RoF Autos (medium Impact)

In this post I will look at Focused Fire now that I have a weapon of each archetype with it. I will look at tapping the trigger on low RoF models, how Genesis Chain's version of the perk is different (even though I don’t have the Chain) and confirm what the perk does on medium rate of fire models.   First off Tapping the Trigger. I only tested this on the lowest rate of fire archetype as it is the only archetype that makes sense to use the technique. What can tapping the trigger rather than holding it do for you on these autos? Is it worth doing? And can it make this perk worthwhile on these type of autos? Tapping has a two main benefits; it will cause you to have little to no recoil and allow you to shot more quickly if you can tap with perfect timing. Using this method; you can fire at 360rpm rather than 300rpm achieving an optimal TTK of 0.83s and be overall more accurate with your shots, which is amazing. The problem with the method though is that you must pull the trigger perfectly at the specific rate, if you pull to quickly you will choke the gun causing it to fire some shots more quickly and others slower. Overall this technique is something a top tier player could use for a quicker time to kill and even an average player can see its benefits through the recoil reduction, so if you get one of these low rate of fire autos with Focused fire maybe consider keeping it. Will this method make focused fire on low RoF Autos worth using? Well, probably not but it does make them a fun option.   Genesis Chain, the chain is a very unique weapon with a special version of focused fire that deals less damage while losing less RoF. Genesis Chain’s Focused Fire; reduces the RoF by 25% and increases the damage by 25% Ok it changes it by a different percentage how does this make it so much better than other weapons focused fire? Well it does not quite make it super better, yes the lower percentage will mean less DPS loss but that’s not what makes this weapon so powerful. What allows this perk to make the weapon so powerful is frame rounding. The base rate of fire of the Genesis Chain is 450rpm if u apply this Focused fire you get 337.5 (450 x 75%) but this rate of fire is of course not possible and the game must either round up or down. The fire rates closest to 337.5 are 300 and 360, because 337.5 is closer to 360rpm the game rounds it up to that value. This means the Genesis Chain’s focused fire offers the weapon a 25% damage buff with only a 20% RoF loss.   Medium Rate of Fire Auto Rifles, here I will explain why these are terrible and the specific numbers as to what they actually do since no one has confirmed them yet. These auto rifles are unique in the same way as the Genesis Chain. When Focused fire is applied to them their rate of fire is not a possible value and the game must round it to the nearest possible. In their case they fire at 600rpm and when you apply focused fire you get 400rpm (600 x 66.7%) which is between 360rpm and 450rpm, the game rounds down to 360rpm as it is closer. This means that focused fire offers medium RoF Auto Rifles a 33.3% damage buff with a 40% RoF loss. Do you think Focused Fire is worth using on low RoF autos? I hope you enjoyed the information. Other In Depth posts: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/209148528
