99.999999 % isn't "sure"
I never speak in certainty because I always think about if I'm wrong. I use "probably" and "maybe" a lot.
English
-
There is never sure about anything in life. But sure as far as one can be sure about something.
-
Death is a sure thing.
-
Is it?
-
Well nobody lives forever, so yeah it is.
-
Do you know that though? What if everyone loves forever? Can life be defined to defy death?
-
Well considering I've been to many funerals for dead family members and friends, also seen dead bodies then yes I am sure we all die at some point. If we did live forever then don't you think the world would be way over populated by now.
-
You're thinking too literally. You must open your mind to different outlooks. Is someone truly dead when their physical form ceases? If so, what of them when they are forgotten? What if there is a Schrödinger's cat situation, and they are both alive and dead?
-
They say we die twice – once when the last breath leaves our body and once when the last person we know says our name.. All Pacino from Stand up guys. For me that is so true. We live, we die. It's all part of life. It's not how long we're here, it's what we can get away with while we're here that counts.
-
You know you live. That is the only certainty. Nothing else is guaranteed.
-
Yeah ok you keep telling yourself that, I'll carry on knowing that death IS a part of life
-
Nothing is known, except that which is within. Until the moment of death, it is uncertain.
-
Until the moment of death, it is uncertain.
Well there we go, that to me looks you just said death is certain. I rest my case.
-
Are you dead? Because if not, you'd be incorrect in your statement.
-
How so? I said death is a sure thing, I didn't say we are dead. We're born, we live we die. It's not really that hard to understand.
-
The past and the future are uncertain. Only the present is certain.
-
How can the past be uncertain? It's already happened and can't be changed. Also your views are yours and respect that, but I personally I think these philosophical views your putting are nothing more than bull crap.
-
How can the past be uncertain? It's already happened and can't be changed.
That, my friend, is not as true as it may seem. I would recommend reading a bit of the book "1984" by George Orwell if you want to understand exactly what I mean, as it would take a very long time to explain here, and I feel you're rather fed up with me at this point. Just know, I'm not spouting random philosophy, I do have some examples to back it up. As I said, however, I don't mean to anger you, just to make you think a bit, perhaps.
-
1984 is a novel, a book of fiction, not facts. Oh I'm not angered in the slightest. Like I said we have views and I firmly believe the fact that death is a part of life. Besides who in their right mind would want eternal life? I know I sure as hell wouldn't.

I'm aware it is fictional, but it points the way to unique points of view, and thought.
Besides who in their right mind would want eternal life? I know I sure as hell wouldn't.
I would, but that's irrelevant. The important response I wish to make here is that eternal life is just as uncertain as eventual death.
I would, but that's irrelevant. The important response I wish to make here is that eternal life is just as uncertain as eventual death.
Eventual death. Again you are saying we do die. I understand points you're trying to raise. But it's quite simple really there are only 2 things in life that are certain, death and taxes. We will die, it's how we will die that we don't know.
-
Of course you would think like that, you're Canadian...you're always wrong.
