I don't think enough people realize this is that if Bungie were to bring Destiny 1 gear over to Destiny 2; that would mean they would have to bring over ALL the Destiny 1 gear. That means all the year 1 gear, all the year 2 gear, all the year 3 gear, all the raid gear for all the raids, even all the gear that you cant get anymore cause you know there's gonna be that one guy who wants to keep his vintage year 1 queens wrath gear that he's never gonna use but wants to keep in his vault for nostalgia purposes. And when you cram all that gear into D2, what room does that leave for new gear?
-
I agree. Destiny needs a clean slate. A whole new foundation to build their loot system upon for destiny 2 to improve
-
No keeping all the old gear is still possible especially if they bring in Transmogrification... plus we should he entitled to something for grinding as much as we have. I also still use my old weapons in pvp because they are so much better than the new ones
-
... I swear no one ever played a game like this before.
-
I play wow and I can transmog gear from vanilla and bc which are roughly a decade old even now. keeping the aesthetics doesn't hurt anything and even if they brought them up they would likely become irrelevant anyhow. I agree people wouldn't be able to use d1 gear the whole time but something should be done in the vein of transmog for people to not feel like bungie going "ya well fk you."
-
Why? Should he not be entitled to keep his weapons he's grinded hours and days for?
-
No? New gear needs to replace old gear. That's progress. Granted By give did a piss poor job at offering new attractive equipment so far but this is how it goes. I didn't get to keep using my weapons I've grinded WEEKS for in FF14 when straight up better gear came out. It's actually funny that Destiny is the only game out there where people complain about outdated gear being irrelevant. 'BUT DESTINY DOESN'T HAVE TO BE LIKE OTHER GAMES :U ' Yeah that's how we got the mess we have right now. Because unlike other games Bungie doesn't fix immediately. Because unlike OTHER games Bungie nerfs PvE aspects when they butcher weapons in PvP. Because UNLIKE GOOD GAMES (of the like) Bungie decides to not add any content and rely on a mediocre PvP mode to keep people around. Holy shit that's actually working.

Bungie promised a 10-year plan and that our characters would come with us. I have played this game for over 900 hours. I want my guns and gear to transfer over. It's the same universe and were most likely gonna have the same characters. What's the excuse for my weapons to just magically disappear?
-
Your guardian is not your armor and weapons. It is your hunter, titan, warlock
-
God knows. What good are your old weapons though.
-
What good is my old stuff? God rolled guns I've spent hours trying to get. Iconic exotics such as The Last Word. Essential exotics such as Crest need to come back anyway. Wearing old gear that the Destiny 2 kinderguardians can't/don't have. While everyone's running around with year 4 trials gear I'll be rocking year 2 gear to their amazement.
-
I'm guessing the Destiny community is lost in their belief whatever kind of game this here is. Go into UVHM with your perfect Lv30 Hornet in Borderlands 2 then. Go into Torment 13 with your perfect Lv.20 Raven Wing in Diablo. That's what you want from Destiny. Your old gear is worthless. As is mine. Difference is I don't care because I played these games long enough :V I guess I hope you get to keep your old stuff. After Bungie said they'll reset though, you shouldn't hold your breath though.
-
Some people don't care about a reset. But I want my play time respected. I at least want to transfer my old exotics that are coming back (because some exotics are definitely making a return) and keep my armor and cosmetics
-
Cosmetics (Shaders, Emblems, Sparrows, Horns) yes. They need to be brought over. What's the point in getting Laurea Prima otherwise. Same with Exotics, they should come along (with no goddamn timegate ffs). Armor though. Raid stuff. Legendaries. No. If people didn't care about outdated things they should've known what kind of game they bought. Sadly Bungie decided to issue a statement saying effort in grind should be respected. Goes to show how much they knew about progressive multiplayer games. Seeing the pace of released content those last 16 months tells you they still have no idea but hey. Maybe in D2 they will figure out how a good MMO works.
