She's Savathun..... or at least one of her agents
She's obsessed with destroying Oryx not just killing him but totally dismantling his power structure starting with Crota's agents (omnigul, hand, heart, etc) then Crota and his death singer( which can easily be explained away by Eris having a grudge against Crota for killing her fire team but bear with me). Followed by Oryx' war priest, golgoroth, his daughters and then Oryx himself.
Savathun is a master of trickery and cunning and what is more cunning than getting your enemies to do your bidding without anyone knowing? Following the sword logic if oryx falls to the guardians then he isn't worthy of seeing the final shape, Savathun proves her own worth as well by gaining the knowledge of killing oryx and his worm (which is where the real knowledge comes from because they've killed each other countless times)
Now Eris surviving the dark without any help is really what's in question here. Think about her teleportation powers and her ability to sense when the hive are near. How does she do that? Is it because she gained some ODD power by being steeped in the dark? OR can her worm sense other worms approaching? Assuming she is Savathun but if she's just an agent would she be able to sense other worms because she is tithed to her master?
Personally I think it would be amazing if it turns out you've been doing the bidding of a minion of darkness this whole time, at least it would be a little twist that I would appreciate to a story that was downright awful (except for ttk).
Edit
Anyone that thinks I'm saying Eris was born as Savathun I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. My theory is that Eris went into the dark to kill Crota and died. Savathun (using hive magic) transformed herself into a deformed version of Eris because well darkness. The reason this sticks in my mind is because "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain".
Now like I said before if she is an agent of Savathun that makes more sense, stripped of her ghost and her light; pledging allegiance to a hive god to survive the dark seems pretty logical and would serve as a decent twist as outlined above.

Eris is Triggered Rock Lady

It is obvious to me at least, that she is CROTA WOMAN.

3 RepliesNo. These ridiculous "Eris is Savathun/an agent of Savathun" theories need to stop. They're baseless. And outright crap. Its already proven otherwise. Eris is not only a guardian - meaning she was resurrected by the Traveler - but she's one of Ikora's hidden. These theories are even more stupid than the "Efrideet is the Stranger!" theories because of the very nature of what you're theorising about.
-
7 RepliesEris is part of Ikora's hidden. Basically an inner circle of people she trusts the most because the hold knowledge of things that are very dangerous. Mara Sov is also part of the hidden. This alone dismisses any theory of Eris being secretly an enemy.
-
1 ReplyEris is actually Croats mother. Her and Oryx had some lez action, and created Croat in a test tube. ~ATullo~

1 ReplyEris was a guardian at first. Meaning that, at one point in time, she was ressurrected by the Traveler. If she was truly a hive god, I don't think that she would be able to use light. Or even have a ghost. The reason why she was able to survive the pit was because of Toland's journal, she says that. If she was a hive god, why would she need a journal, written by a guardian, to survive in a place that you're theorizing is her own kind? She managed to escape and she bolted to the tower to warn us of crota. If she was a hive god, wouldn't she just not warn us, and let crota come and kill us all? It's clear to see that Eris has a massive grudge against the hive. She had us kill almost every leader of power, including Oryx. And when we killed Oryx, the mantle for the Taken King was left open, for anyone to take. Eris could've easily done that, but she didn't. Instead, she helped us stop a successor to that very throne. She also seems to be very depressed about her dead guardian friends. If I was an evil hive god, I wouldn't give two shits about agents of the Traveler. And I'll wrap this up her. Eris Morn has done a lot to help us fight the hive. She warned us of Crota, Ominigul, Oryx, gave us even more knowledge on their race, and even saved us in TTK storyline. She's shady, yeah, but I truly think she's just a misunderstood good guy.

Edited by mattmurdock78: 11/9/2016 1:54:24 AMI think Eris was killed by Crota but Savathun possessed the dead body to assist her, I mean Savathun is clever so it's entirely possible she used Eris so it seemed like Eris had reasons to want to kill Crota and his father Oryx.
Great theory
Eris isn't evil darling, I am all for the theory we killed oryx because of Savernuth manipulating us. (Since she gains power through cunning, if she made us kill oryx she would gain the tithe since she manipulated us and we didn't take the power.) But we killed golgoroth, the daughters and the priest in the raid for the sole reason of sealing oryx not vengeful matters. The priest handles the tithe from the lesser hive, weaving it through the ranks. Golgoroth is the keeper of the of the tithe that is being processed, killing him causes there to be no reserve tithe to even be salvaged. And as the daughters tried to spin the web of tithe back to there father we killed them and cut off his feeding and starved him and killed him.

Dude eris ate one of the Ahamkara worms That is why she can sense the hive masters, she is HIVE. Watch YouTube theory

In the Book of Sorrows, Savathun wanted to become the strongest warrior in the universe. Savathun is still out there. I hope we see her in a raid of some sort.
-
4 RepliesTrickery is one thing. Convincing the traveler to resurrect a hive God as a human with a ghost in secrecy is another. Eris is not Savathun. It also makes no sense. Us defeating oryx for her does her no good. Unless it is her doing it, she doesn't gain the power of oryx via sword logic. All it does is create an even stronger enemy (us) whom wants to kill her.

5 RepliesWHY THE -blam!- DOES EVERY ONE THINK I AM EVIL!?!

Bungie could always pull it out of their keisters that she might be, but I don't think so... She might have been influenced in some way by Savathun, but anything more that is grasping at proverbial straws. So... no.

1 ReplyI'm just gonna say this once
no
Cabals deep in Eris

Edited by MastaShake90: 11/8/2016 4:18:03 PMHer worm feeds on cunning and trickery. It doesn't matter who killed Oryx as long as she was behind it. She would still gain the sword logic of being able to trick and defeat a being that can travel through the deep
-
But she'd want the power of killing oryx, so she'd kill him herself. It makes no sense for her to get someone else to do it.
