Whether it is through constant nerfing or just being too niche, alot of weapons in the game aren't used apart from a little bit of fun in PvP or PvE. Exotics are some of the most sough after items in Destiny. While they should not be insanely overpowered, they have to be special enough to warrant that converted exotic slot.I made an Exotic Armor changes post about a week ago. Basically I attempted to make some of the underused and unloved Exotic Armor some changes to bring them back into the game. I have done the same to the weapons in Destiny.
Some of the changes are minor adjustments to weapons that are already fairly used, some guns have intrinsic perks which fit their playstyle and perks, and some guns have new intrinsic perks and reworked exotic perks. If there are any guns you feel like I've missed, let me know and ill try to add some changes to them also.
[b][u]Hand Cannons[/u][/b]
[b]Thorn:[/b]
- Added new Intrinsic Perk: [b]Plague Doctor.[/b]
[b]Plague Doctor:[/b] Enemies that are poisoned take increased damage for the duration of the burn. [u](5% increased damage while burning. Does not stack with other damage boosting affects or additional shots).[/u]
[b]Hawkmoon:[/b]
- Added new Intrinsic Perk: [b]Stalker.[/b]
[b]Stalker[/b]: ADS speed is increased. Greatly increased reload speed after a headshot kill. [u](Basically Quickdraw and Outlaw in one perk).[/u]
- Replace Quickdraw in the middle tree with Perfect Balance.

- Added new Intrinsic Perk: [b]High Noon.[/b]
[b]High Noon:[/b] Further Increased hipfire accuracy and increased reload speed when switched to. Lasts 3 seconds.

[b]The Cavalry[/b]: Missed Shots have a chance to immediately return to the magazine. Kills have a chance to completely refill the magazine.

-[b]Scrapshoot[/b]: Holding the aim button charges up a big volley of shotgun shells, firing the entire magazine at once. [u](Basically the perk would work like a Fusion Rifle. You hold the trigger and your whole magazine is fired at once. The charge and impact would be similar to a high impact Fusion Rifle. Allowing for some flexibility and uniqueness to the gun).[/u]

Traps will auto detonate after three seconds. If stuck to a target, will work as normal. [u](Boolean Gemini is another Queen based weapon which has two selectable Exotic perks. I think Telesto should be similar).[/u]

- Added New Intrinsic Perk: [b]Tripwire[/b]
[b]Sleeper Simulant Exotic Perk[/b]: Upgrades laser to bounce multiple times. Enemies killed by lasers explode firing another laser at a random trajectory.
[b]Tripwire[/b]: Lasers fired from this weapon super heat the air around it, causing the fired laser to persist for a short time. Enemies passing through the laser will take damage overtime if not killed outright.
[u](Basically the laser that is fired will stay present for about three seconds before disappearing).[/u]

3 RepliesI'm just going to say, your idea for sleeper simulant just makes an already OP weapon into the most insanely overpowered thing you could ever have. Fire into a group of enemies and the entire room is dead in one shot. You would need some kind of balance, like, for example; one shot per magazine, maximum of 3 rounds total. Not to mention it would kill you to even use the dang thing with all of those ricocheting lasers all over the place.

Personally, I love the weapon. I love all the weapons related to the Hive. I got to use Necrochasm for all of a weekend before it got left behind. I would like to see the Hive related weapons get some love. Thorn: Either increase the range or the damage over time. Necrochasm: The weapon is fine, it actually melts in crucible. Just bring it forward. Touch of Malice: Listed above, just fix the health aspect to make it fun and relevant again. I was having fun in crucible the other day using nothing but the last round, it can still kill very quickly even if it was never meant to go into crucible. Bad Juju: Just increase the impact slightly, that would make it reasonably competitive. C'mon, it'll be fun.

1 ReplyThe only reason Touch of Malice was nerfed is because you can bounce in and out of the bubble and recover health with it. Making it a dps monster on bosses. "But people were only doing that in challenge of the elders! Who cares about that anymore?! NO NERFU!" My guess is that in play testing it was still doing more damage on Vosik and maybe even Aksis that the new raid exotic Outbreak Prime. So to not make those parts of the raid too easy, and to prevent the raid exotic from starting out irrelevant, they nerfed ToM. Yeah, it sucks though.

2 RepliesThose are pretty overpowered when used in pvp. Cool perks and bonus but they would greatly ruin pvp. Especially the last word perk. I personally feel Exotic's shouldn't be used in pvp but that's just me.
