Hand cannons in general are supposed to be closer ranged than scout and pulse rifles. I personally think the range is plenty fine. I die just as fast now as I did before, provided the person shooting me in the head doesn't miss.

Again, I'm not saying that it should have scout range, just the max range for its weapon class (hand cannons).

It had near scout range in year 1 though, hence the nerf. In closer quarters (still outside shotgun range) handcannons such as the thorn perform quite well. It's at extended ranges where they fail, just like auto rifles. This is easy to compensate for, if you can get in close. In this way, handcannons (especially the thorn) need no adjustments to their range as they work perfectly in their intended range.

They have already nerfed HC range and damage dropoff, so again, it wouldn't have the range it had in year one.

I know this. I already said that.

This. I agree that Thorn's range was ridiculous in year one, but I'm talking strictly about the most recent range nerf.

Pre 2.0 it's range was ridiculous. It was then in limbo for a while (other handcannons like the last word, hawkmoon, ect... took the spotlight) occasionally coming back once and a while before handcannons actually fit within their intended range. That brings us to now, when all handcannons more or less work well within their intended range. It does not need a range buff.
