Crutch? Or you could get good and counter it
-
Not now the Red Death is no longer competitive.
-
LOL a crutch? Your best weapon is a shotgun. It really takes mad skills to use a shoty! LOL.
-
The guy with 3 negative Kd's surely knows everything about skill haha.
-
You proved my point. My best weapon is a shotgun.
-
That doesn't prove your point, you are just a bad player who relies on special for all of their kills. Only weapons in the game that take skill are primaries.
-
I love when D students stand up and take notice
-
No need to be offended. I'm just pointing out how bad you are :)
-
It takes skill to use everything, I do get your point though
-
it does take skill

Edited by Peanut_343: 10/13/2016 3:16:46 PMYes I agree it does, thanks for the support. P.S you should change your gamertag to Crutchy McScrubster
-
It's called sarcasm
-
Really??? I would never have guessed. If you are desperate to get Thorn back to its previous status you have no argument whatsoever, Thorn was the biggest crutch this game ever had outside of the pre-nerf Vex. Thorn is Destinys cancer and needs to remain dead and basically unuseable. It ruined the game in year one.
-
A weapon in a virtual world cannot be compared to a real-life disease that kills people, sorry.
-
I would argue that Suros Regime was at as much as a crutch as Thorn was. The difference being they were quicker on the Suros nerf, a) because Suros was a beast you could just buy from Xur or b) get it in a drop, c) because of "a" and "b" it's infection spread super fast. I think they left Thorn being OP for as long as they did because a) it was so bad originally, b) the bounty to get it was somewhat difficult at the time and c) it reigned during the era of the Hand Cannon meta. If you think back the Hawkmoon was a beast back then too. It just wasn't as fire and forget as Thorn. But it was infamous for it's one shot kills from across the map when all it's perks stacked on one round. Been there done that. Anyway just my thoughts. Ruined the game in year one? I don't think so... it was a pain in the rear for sure, but a cancer? No... not IMHO.
-
I didn't care about the range or damage on thorn, it's dot on a primary, it's OP. The weapon needs to remain a part of history.
-
Edited by MenTaL9R: 10/13/2016 6:57:18 PMYeah no. It's DOT the way it is is useless as a perk, I can't remember the last time the DOT from a Thorn killed me. The perks on an exotic is the only reason to use them over comparable legendary weapons. Just because Thorn has DOT as an exotic perk, doesn't make it OP. That's a ridiculous argument especially considering the sorry state it's DOT is in. Even if they raised the DOT to make even remotely feel "Exotic", it could be balanced by dropping it's base damage a bit and increasing the rate of fire slightly. The fact is there is zero reason to use the weapon now, let alone have it occupy an exotic slot because any decent legendary HC is better. That in itself means it needs a buff. In Y1 during it's reign of terror, yeah it was OP, not only did it hit hard and have amazing range, the DOT was 250% more damaging than it is now. This isn't year one, so try to put your Y1 Thorn PTSD aside and you be able to think logically on the topic. Of course it has occurred to me that you could just be trolling so this is my last comment on the topic lol...

Dot simply should not be on a primary weapon in a game with health recharge. You are wrong, bye!
-
Ok I lied :-) Agree to disagree hehe... cya!
-
Yeah no worries, I'd leave as well if I knew I'd lost the argument. Bye.
-
LOL... nice bait :-)
-
You were leaving like three posts ago.....because you lost.
-
Again, there's literally no risk of that happening. Damage dropoff has already been made severe on hand cannons, and the DoT has been nerfed from 7 to 2. All I want is the original range stat. With the current damage dropoff, there's no risk of Thorn becoming anywhere near as powerful as in year one.
-
The problem is not the damage of the dot its the dot itself, anything that can keep your opponents shields down whilst yours recharge is OP.
