Well, it's not going to be a win button anymore. A 2 tap kill with that ROF was broken, period. So if that's all you want, then I guess you won't care anymore. It will still have better than average range and be very forgiving/punch above it's weight because it will be a 1 head 2 body unlike the others in it's RoF class that need 2 head one body. And the DoT will still stop health regen, give away position, etc. Sure there's an artifact to negate it but to do so will be a tough choice between that and say, infinite sprint or free relentless tracker/third eye.

 • I absolutely agree. 2-Tap kill at that speed was ridiculous. That was a 100% needed Nerf. Not even gonna try and argue that. But the point I'm driving at here is just a point that much of the community has been arguing for a long time. "Exotics should FEEL Exotic." And Thorn doesn't have that anymore. If they made the DoT it's bare minimum (which they said they did), then reducing it's duration was just an unnecessary step beyond. 4 Pulses or even 5 pulses ticking off a total of 10HP or 5 HP (2 per tick or 1 per tick) would have been perfect as a means of giving Thorn a more tactical role/use, while also reducing the chance of "Death by Poison." Believe me, I'm not an amazing PvP'er. My K/D hovers anywhere from 1.5 to 0.90. I don't wanna be running around in a match with 4 or 5 Thorns all dealing 2-tap Kills, EVER again. But at the same time, I think Thorn should FEEL like it's a viable option. As it sits now? It just feels like a literal waste of an exotic slot, when you could use something else like Mida, or Hardlight, or Zhalo, or Red Death, or Suros. If Thorn is making a return, people should see it and think, "Oh, Thorn is a serious option again." Not, "Why would I waste my 1 exotic slot on a Hand-Cannon that's no realistically better than a Legendary?"

 • Personally I think people are blowing this way out of proportion because they want their old Thorn back and it will be much more effective than they think. I mean, the DoT isn't just about killing, even, it's about forcing your opponent out of the fight. And it still does that. There's no way someone is going to pick Hardlight or even Zhalo over it unless they really just don't like HC"s. It's still going to be much better than either of those and likely clearly superior to anything other than an absolutely perfectly rolled legendary HC (and even then I'm not sure)

 • It should be about forcing someone out of the fight, but if you take it into a Private match with a friend, and test it out at its current level, it really doesn't even do that. The reduction in range limits its damage-ability. One headshot won't lower your shields, even with DOT. That's not going to knock someone out of the fight because the DOT literally ends after 2 ticks. I was in a match last night with someone using a Y1 Thorn (that's what actually inspired this OP). I was using Baby-Hawk (Eyasluna) and shot it out with him, and I got caught with 2 shots from Thorn. I figured, "Oh great. Duck around a corner and get my health back." To my surprise (oddly, sort of disappointingly) that wasn't necessary. I traded fire with him with Eyasluna and rifled off one last shot, figuring I'd at least scare him off from chasing me around the corner. The final shot (luckily a head-shot) took him down, and before he'd even hit the ground, the DoT-effect had ended. I took a few steps and my health began to regen. That's not gonna take me out of the fight, and I'm NOT a "great player" in Crucible. You take someone who's hardened in Trials of Osiris and put them in my place, and Thorn isn't even a "thorn in their side" (pun intended). They'll land all 3 head-shots on you quicker than you can fire-off 2, and their shields won't even be down, even IF you land a headshot.
