Xur only sells legacy engrams to PS3/XBOX360 console players? Talk about snubbing your original player base. To save a few simple lines of code to separate the new expansion items from being available to "legacy" consoles, it looks like Bungie is going to see a decline in players; not everyone has the disposable funds to just up and buy a new $500 console AND re-purchase the game PLUS expansions, all over again. Yeah, about $1000 just to play 1 game... all it would take is: <pseudo-code:> if (item_expansion >= Rise_of_Iron) then ignore else (add to options) Seriously, it IS as simple as that. Show you still care about players that can't afford to upgrade, and I can pretty much guarantee that when they can, they'll grab the game too. -Frustrated

  • Wait wait wait, $1000 to upgrade and all for RoI?! New systems run around $300. Online membership is about $50, the game is $60 with the RoI collection. You aren't even at $500 there. Dude old gen is over a decade old, they have to move on eventually to focus on their plan for the future.

  • Sorry, I should have mentioned first of all I live in Canada, not the USA, so prices are higher up here. And, alright, it could depend on where you buy your brand new system from, they can range anywhere from $350 - $500. Another part I had no idea factored into the whole equation until just recently, with the move to PS4/XBOX 1, you now need to have a subscription to either XBox Live or PlayStation Plus in order to play in anything multiplayer. Hmmm, don't recall any notices of that feature being added to RoI. I did see it casually mentioned in the overview for RoI, but nothing really drew your attention to it blatantly. At the time of my writing I didn't know about the RoI packs (brand new player or upgrade player) so I admittedly assumed having to purchase all game & expansions all over again. That was my bad... And yes, I do agree companies do need to move forward and put their main efforts into the new consoles. But seriously, if all the original content is still there, and "legacy" players are still able to access & play the game, why does access to the database(s) need to be cut? There is already something built in to identify year 1, year 2 and now year 3 items from each other, so why does access to the database(s) via Android/iPhone app have to be dropped? And also Xur, why can't he just offer the usual rotation of year 1 & year 2 items? My point is because all of the original content is still there, still being used by new characters, with a few measly lines of code to filter out the newest stuff why can't access be kept? Yes, halt updates, by all means let progress stagnate, but you should still be able to access the features that were in existence. If not, why not kill the legacy side of things all together?
