Edit: Didn't think I would have to add this but nowhere, I repeat NOWHERE in this post do I say year 1 was perfect. I'm just stating all the things in year 1 that kept me addicted and that I would love to see make a return.
https://youtu.be/r2QVjp4KEjU added for lolz
Take this with a grain of salt, If you disagree with me that's fine post down below just don't be a 12 year old about it.
Nightfalls
~ Remember a time when Nightfalls were actually difficult, pepperidge farm remembers.
~ A time when the Nightfall was actually rewarding and even if you didn't need any loot you did it anyway to get the sexy blue flame head and useful xp boost, pepperidge farm remembers.
Heroic Strikes
~ Remember when this bastard of a strike was your only shot at strange coin income. Difficulties ranging from easy-3 strange coin, medium-6 strange coin, and hard-9 strange coin, pepperidge farm remembers.
Simplified Currency
~ Remember a time before the currency system was so basic a mentally challenged or "special" person could understand it, pepperidge farm remembers.
~ Remember a time before Legendary marks when there was a distinction between Vanguard and Crucible with there own marks respectively, pepperidge farm remembers.
~ A time when strange coins were difficult to come by and were hoarded for when Zur finally sold Icebreaker, Suros, or Ghorn, before 3 of Coins ruined the grind for many of the player base, pepperidge farm remembers.
~ Before motes of light were only used by lazy people to level newly acquired gear, pepperidge farm remembers.
Watered Down Exotics
~ Remember a time when exotics felt special, were hard to come by, and felt like they earned the right to only have one equipped at a time, pepperidge farm remembers.
~ A time before there was a quest to hand out every exotic like candy essenccily ruining the grind for most players, pepperidge farm remembers.
Raid Gear
~ Remember a time when there was at least one raid weapons every one had to have but it never dropped ex) Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence, Black Hammer, pepperidge farm remembers (seriously list one Kings Fall weapon that even come close to these guns)
Bounties
~ Remember a time when bounties played a part in the end game, if not to level your end game gear then to try and get Thorn, Super Good Advice, Pocket Infinity, or Invective, pepperidge farm remembers.
Legendaries
~ Remember when the tag line become legend meant getting your character to have full legendary gear and there was some weight behind it because well it was hard, pepperidge farm remembers.
If this post gets trending I'll add to the list, post ideas down below and just know, pepperidge farm remembers.
Edit: Well we're trending now, I was just thinking about was to mention some of my favorite aspects of year 1 while adding some humor to it. Thank you to everyone who liked the post and did not act like a 12 year old in the comments.

-blam!- yeah! I forgot about some of these things!
-
Oh yeh! The heroic strikes for 9 strange coins was awsome. Bungo bring that back. Also nightfalls were not hard. Every nightfall had a place to stand where the end boss could not shoot you and icebreaker shit on all strikes.
-
Remember a time when the Summoning Pits had a strike boss that was called Phogoth instead of Hive Abomination, pepperidge farm remembers.
-
Remember when Bobby Busche show up at halftime and the mud dogs won the bourbon bowl?
-
Remember when you had to use the vault at the tower to transfer weapons
-
I disagree with nightfall being more difficult, it was just more stressful due getting pushed back to orbit if you wiped. If anything it was easier due to elemental primaries.
omnigul with arc burn+light switch is the exception, -blam!- that strike
Edited by Jakebohica: 9/8/2016 3:42:39 AMRemember when the rep shape was a circle not a diamond? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Remember when you could trade in planetary material for Vanguard or Crucible rep? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I was using Fabian Strategy and sidearms before the buff. Pepperidge Farm remembers.

2 RepliesA lot of those things you brought up were horrible, like VG and Crucible marks, grinding for strange coins and exotics were way too rare. Pepperidge Farm remembers.
-
4 RepliesI remember getting ghorn from the raid, and then staying up all night trying to level it lol. Went through as many bounties on my three characters as I could. Same for when I got raid gear and weapons from fog the first time. Truly memorable times.
-
2 RepliesI miss the great stuff this game lost due to whiners

1 ReplyIf you remember "pepperidge farm remembers", you're pretty old.
-
4 RepliesNFs were never difficult outside the first month. Then Cheese happened. Made them incredibly easy. Ice Breaker and camp all day in the cheese spots. They were actually easier to Solo.
-
3 RepliesI think what Pepperidge Farm forgot was to take off those rosy glasses.
-
3 RepliesRemember when doing patrol missions assigned by a faction gave you rep for that faction? Like if you pick up a mission and the New Monarchy guy starts talking, once you finished the task you'd get Vanguard + NM rep.
or does this still happen when you haven't pledged allegiance to any faction?
-
Remember when you would be stuck at Level 29 because that one piece of gear wouldn't drop? When legendary engrams decoded as blues? When weapons took forever to upgrade? Petridge Farm remembers.
-
2 RepliesRemember hitting the spirit bloom chest and making a random squeaker scream as if you'd defiled his puppy? Pepperidge Farms remembers
-
Remember that time at band camp when you experimented with that other girl and found out you actually liked anal? Pepperidge Farm remembers!
-
Remember when the SUROS Regime was king of the Crucible (before the auto rifle nerf) Pepperidge Farm Remembers. I bought it from Xur. I still have my original, as a matter of fact. Even the newer, black SUROS is still my go-to for Crucible. First decent exotic of year 1 and Year 2.
-
1 ReplyI remember when the Vex Mythoclast was the best gun in the game and had 56 shots per reload. Now it has 21 and can't hit an enemy point blank.
-
Remember when rahool enjoyed playing games with us? Pepper ridge farm remembers.
-
3 RepliesPepperidge farms are working with the lizard overlords to overthrow humanity into complete chaos overbthe nostalgia of year one SOUND THE ALARMS THE INVASION HAS BEGUN
-
5 RepliesNightfalls were difficult? All anyone did in year was camp a spot and spray everything down with whatever the burn weapons were that week and bust out black hammer for tanks. No nightfall in year one even came close to that solar burn saber 2 with the taken vandals a month ago.
-
2 RepliesEdited by SohCahToe: 9/8/2016 3:14:10 PMMost of these points would signify that year 2 is better than year 1. Also, I've been playing since beta, so I would know the major difference in quality and mechanics.
