I hope you're joking, because that's a terrible connection. If you got banned for having a bad connection, they made the right choice.
This is what it should look like. Minimum (a better Upload would be a good start):

Ping is far more important as well as how stable the connection is. In this p2p matchmaking, increased latency only causes bs to appear. U may bot see it as it's all compensated for u, but bandwidth isn't ever whats to be focused on. U can take extreme examples but that will only show desperation Ping is more important.
-
Yep He must test his ping over pingtest.net on the test you can see how stable the ping is.

That's pure B.S. Bungie says Destiny "may use" up to 1mbps up/down. I run a network monitor, and have never seen it use more than 500Kbps up/down. His bandwidth is fine. Ping, jitter, and packet loss are far more important than bandwidth above 1Mbps.

Edited by Teal'c: 8/19/2016 9:08:40 AMlol ping is important i can say wahh I have a 200/12 connection screw you btw when you played against one from the other side of the earth you will have arround a ping of 300 ms you can play destiny with a 1 MBit/ 512 kbit connection
-
Minimum? lol that's like half the minimum
-
Actually you need 1 mbps down and 1 up to play without too much lag. I have less speed than him and almost never lag, I managed to play some Iron Banner matches where everyone was green barring, it felt so smooth.
-
If that's what the minimum looks like then my city needs to fix their shit, best plan I can get is $60 and that's 25 down 2 up. I know people can get godly connections, but you are NEVER using that much. Hell even that guys connection is not too low for crucible. I rarely lag doing 20 down 1.2 up, the game doesn't take that much and not many games really do.

OP's connection is actually better than the USA average.

Edited by Nastleen: 8/19/2016 6:23:06 AM142 download.... geez I'm jelly like a donut.
-
Download isn't important. I'm in the middle of changing to a gaming ISP on a 200/100 connection. Hopefully then I'll have at least 150 down and 50 up. Not sure what I'm able to get in upload speeds because I'm currently only on a 200/20 connection.
-
Hah, no. Ping is more important than either of those two. You can have a gig of upload and an ungodly high ping would still lead to you lagging like crazy.
-
What exactly do you think ping is if not a culmination of up and download speed? And of course, that test won't show ping because you need a server to ping to.
-
Edited by Phunkr: 8/19/2016 6:30:44 AMIt's not the culmination. Ping is a separate entity that can completely change even if you're upload and download do not. I used to have satellite internet with decent up and down, but because it was satellite the ping was too high for online gaming. The connection had to travel from my dish to the satellite then to the server and come back the same way. Then I got cable with the exact same up and down and could game online completely fine. Ping went way down because it didn't have to jump through five hoops to get anywhere. Btw, the internet I used to play Destiny on was the same as his. Actually had two people game at once on that and it was totally fine.
-
I'll repeat, you need a server to ping to. Of course with satellite internet your DL and UL will be good but Ping bad, you're adding in referrence servers that weren't there before when checking your UL/DL speeds. All ping is is the time it takes to send and receive a packet to and from a destination. The time you get is the end product of how quickly you can send (upload) and receive (download) it.
-
And again, his speeds are totally fine for playing Destiny as I have used the same speeds to play Destiny without lag. It's most likely his ping that's an issue and that's what he should check. He shouldn't have to deal with insufferable dicks telling him his perfectly fine up and down are bad.
-
Are you from Australia? Just having Satellite internet and thinking 15D/1U is good was what gives me the hint.
-
Because the literal bare minimum for online gaming is an up and down of 1Mbps. Ping is, and always will be, more important for gaming. But you seem to have to justify your incredibly overpriced internet. So whatever.
-
Sorry man that is the best i can pay in my country!
-
15 should be fine as well as 1.4
