Why give classes a different base melee range

I understand specific subclass perks and melee abilities but that should require a melee charge. The base range is kind of ridiculous for warlocks. With no melee charge, just raw 122 damage, a hunter shouldn't be losing to a warlock just as weak as him because he can't fully extend his arm for some dumb reason. It's almost like giving a class the ability to throw a grenade farther just because. EDIT: here's a good example of the different ranges if you skip to around 6:15. Warlock range is pretty insane actually. I'm pretty sure the base range and the actual melee charge of warlocks have the same range, excluding thunderstrike. I think that the current base melee range of warlocks should remain a part of the melee charge of scorch melee and voidwalker and thunderstrike. However, I think the base melee range should be evened out to around the titan level

  • Warlocks get range but are slower. Titans are fastest, and both Titans and hunters have the same range, I think (trex arms were buffed). Hunters can get precision damage on their base melee though, which is unique to them as far as I know. It doesn't come up that often, but I think it's a cool little bonus. And hunters aren't much slower than Titans; it's what I've heard, but I can't really tell the difference when I'm playing.
