One point that a lot of people over look is the neighbor country we have. Mexico smuggles a lot of guns into our country. Banning guns would probably have little affect because they'd still be pushed into the country. Mexico makes large amounts of money from smuggling guns & drugs into this country. Also another big problem we have is gangs. There are a lot of gangs that stem out from Mexico (as well as other countries & as well as from out own country) to sell the guns and drugs that are being smuggled in. They contribute a large chunk to the gun violence that occurs in our country & despite trying to stop the gun & drug issue, we have made little to no progress. From the outside or to a lot of people here, it seems like an easy issue to solve but there's many things that go into it. It's not a simple ban & suddenly things work out. What I would like to see is for mental institutes to be more readily available. Many people don't get help because they can't afford it & I'd be willing to pay higher tax to help those people. Also there is a stigma surrounding mental illnesses that should be broken. I think a lot of people don't get help because they're afraid of the backlash they'll get from people. I would also like to see more commercials that help normalize going to these places if you need to. I'm to lazy to actually get sites, but I'm sure you can look into what I said. I don't think banning guns is the solution & I'm not opposed to stricter laws (though criminals wouldn't care about them). I know many responsible gun owner that would like to see a mandatory gun safety & handling class before being able to purchase a gun. Permits are required in some states & it's be nice to see it for all states.

  • Y'all probably don't like him, but John Oliver did a really good piece on the state of mental health treatment in America. It's almost frightening. You should look that up.

  • I've heard of him, I will definitely look into it! I think we should definitely be focusing on metal health way more than banning things

  • As a matter of fact, I have seen that one. Since Philip DeFranco mentioned John Oliver a few weeks ago, I've watched an awful lot of his material on YouTube. He's certainly insightful.

  • You've raised a lot of good points there. Gangs are a problem almost anywhere you go. Not to mention a big supplier is right next door. I agree with the stigma of mental health - that needs to go. Pronto. It has no place in our society if we want to make things better, and make things work. Thanks a lot for your input.

  • No problem, I think that the source of the gun violence or any violent is people. I really believe we should be focusing more on the mental health help & less on bickering on if we should ban guns or not.

Please look up information & educate yourself. I am not blaming them, but they do contribute to a lot of the problems we have. Heck their own government doesn't care about their people & are corrupt. They are a problem

What I said is factual, I am not spewing hate or blame to Mexico. As I stated feel free to look it up. He asked for thoughts & I gave issues that would make a ban very hard to work in this country.
