Good question. Nobody thought they were OP. But they do fit a unique playstyle that is no longer possible. If you stick with Sunsinger in Crucible, your only sensible choice now is fusions. Sunsinger super is 75% about grenades. If the grenades can't kill anything, you are left with 25% of a super (melee buff basically). As a 14+ month Sunsinger main, I have switched to Voidwalker.

I agree with you completely.. I had such a unique approach when it came to Crucible and my Solar-nades. But now I've had to move over to Fusion-nades. Now, Solar-nades cause nothing but "frustrating encounters" for the user in PVP. Hope Bungie addresses that "frustration".

I bet it's because someone in Bungie got "frustrated" with trials runs and firebolt and decided to mess around with VF which ruined solar to the point where you can use it only to give a sun tan to other guardians...add a little color to their complexion. The mechanics of this grenade need to be altered to not rely on burn so much and instead act like similar grenades (vortex).
