This ".5" console marketing is bullshit. If it turns out to be true than there really is no advantage to having consoles over a PC at all. Given that there already is hardly any advantage at all, especially with consoles steadfast willingness to become inferior PCs in all but name. The removal of split screen from consoles is a testament to how shit the markets gotten.

Splitscreen has been removed because many games aim for good graphics. I agree that releasing this many consoles this soon could be bad but Microsoft may have the upper hand here. Say they release the Scorpio, Xbones run Windows 10, same as PC. If you had an Xbox that was equivalent to a decent PC and is as easy to develop for as a PC, what would stop devs from developing on Xbox?

Why have a console at that point? The appeal of a console is that it's easy to set up, and is essentially for the casual gamer who plays with their friends. Split screen was a huge plus, one of the only ones when compared to PC. But now that the Xbox is essentially losing everything that makes it a console, there is little to no incentive to buy one over making your own PC that'll just be infinitely better.

Watch a console only gamer try to buy a PC. They will attempt to, buy a decent one, then not know anything about drivers, graphical settings, or the likes. The Xbox will still have what makes it a console: accessibility.
