I really dislike this.
We're on the path to new consoles every year..
I don't want to change my console as often as my cell phone. I spend way too much money gaming as is.

This is true. Shit's getting hella expensive. :I Let's do what games have taught us! Rob a bank successfully! :D

This is what puzzles me about this route we are going down. People that buy consoles buy them because they're guaranteed that every game for that console will work. It is an incredibly easy process for consumers.
-
Exactly. If they're going to make consoles every few years, I'm just going to switch to PC. Sure I'll miss Sony exclusive consoles, but I'll be able to play A LOT of other games. And I'll just get a steambox or stream my PC to my tv, and play it like a console.

Edited by Vgnut: 5/29/2016 8:09:50 PMWhich is the other piece of this puzzle that baffles me. Microsoft wants to merge Windows 10 gaming with the Xbox One. Okay. Why in God's name is any sane person going to choose Microsoft's PC gaming service over Steam?
-
I don't play in my PC at all, and I freaking love steam
-
What does Steam rely on to sell games? Windows. And now Windows 10. If every PC gamer already has windows, and eventually Win10, then why not just add the Store into there. They don't need to download it or anything because they already have windows.
-
I don't follow. Are you saying that people will turn to Windows 10 market place over Steam just because they don't want to have to download Steam? People playing video games on their PC's aren't 85 year old grandmothers intimidated by downloading a simple program.
-
No, absolutely not. My point is that Microsoft's store will already be there. Steam will always be the main source of PC games but for a PC gamer the Microsoft store is right there if you want a game from it. Most launches have been pretty rocky on it but Forza Apex is solid.

As someone that buys PC games from time to time, and I can guarantee you most people would think the way I am on this, I do not want to touch Microsoft Windows 10 game store with a 100 foot poll. This is the problem I see with Microsoft. They have all these high minded ideas yet no one has stopped to ask "Why will someone use this service?" Are there an abundance of critically acclaimed games I can only get on Windows 10? Is there even one great game I can only get on Windows 10?

I have a gaming PC too. I buy PC games regularly. Microsoft won't put anything they publish on Steam and if more and more people are switching to win10 to keep up with other PC games then they already have the store. If you want Gears of War on the PC, you have to get it through the windows store. If you want Forza Apex, you have to get it on the windows store. Microsoft isn't trying to out sell Steam in their own games because that is really stupid so instead they put their games, which aren't on Steam, on the windows store. Long story short, if you want the new PC games that Microsoft will be releasing then you need to use the Windows store. Many games have had issues in the past (quantum break) but the new Forza Apex beta is SUPER solid and I believe this will be a turning point for future of that store but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yes, but Microsoft has a track record of releasing horrible game markets on PC. I.E Games for Windows live
-
Sure but all of PC gaming is built on Windows. Without it, PC gaming as we know it wouldn't exist.

Not necessarily replacements but more options. Currently there is one Xbone and one PS4. If they both expand those by one or two like in the last gens but without leaving the other installations behind, there should be no issue.
