I hope the Scorpio rumour is true, watch all the xbox fanboys cry over having to buy a new system to play new games, while I get to enjoy everything Microsoft publishes on Pc /s it'll never happen. Scorpio rumour sounds unrealistic tbh, with that much extra power the games being created for it simply couldn't be played on the xbox One, making it obsolete and forcing players to buy an additional console to keep up.

  • Microsoft isn't stupid. They wouldn't make you buy a new console after they just released another one. The Slim would be an option IF you want a smaller console. The Scorpio would be an option IF you wanted a more powerful console.

  • No they are not stupid, their billions of income prove that yearly. But, if the Scorpio is truly that powerful, the games that devs could create for it would be impossible to play on the one. Causing a divide in the playerbase, on the otherhand if they take the Ps route and make the games compatible for both it would be a waste of hardware, it being as powerful as rumoured makes it seem like a standalone console. Idk seems farfetched to me. I dont see the point of producing that much power only to stay in line with the ones compatibility. If its just for 4k resolution and fps I think it'll be a little overboard.

  • Not so much just graphics as it would be for huge amounts of physics or particles. It would open up a huge amount of possibilities. They wouldn't try to split the community. Maybe they would make it cheap to trade in your Xbone for a Scorpio or devs would pick which console they want to make games for. I'm not sure how they would do it, but they will find a way if it is real.

  •
Maybe they would make it cheap to trade in your Xbone for a Scorpio
The user you're having a discussion with kinda says how I feel in a way, and this part of your reply, I seriously hope a deal like that comes out. I think it usually does happen. I'll most likely not be struggling with money at the time it is out, but I would just feel like damn, I'm spending too much on video games. At any rate, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens. Preciate the info.

  • They probably have a plan IF they intend the Scorpio to replace the One.

If it's as strong as it says in the OP, wouldn't it be a waste if it wasn't replacing it? Like for example, hasn't it already been said that games that will come out being made for the ps4.5 play...for lack of a better word...bad on the standard ps4? So using that as a reference, considering the power difference between the standard xbox one to the scorpio...wouldn't the games, if made to be supported by both consoles, play
replacing bad with
horrible on the xbox one? Or wouldn't the xbox one cause the scorpio to kinda hold back on what is done in the games to be sure the one can support it? I of course don't work on video games myself, so I can't pretend to know the ins and outs. I just use reference points, like games that were made for xbox 360 and xbox one, where the game may lack certain features on either console because of the other one. Same with ps3 and ps4. Which leads me to believe that only developing for the current new console would have meant a much higher quality game in all regards to the consoles hardware specs being fully utilized. Does that make sense? Or am I rambling nonsense and...perhaps have no idea wth I just said? Lol

  • Fair enough, not doubting Microsofts ability. They have ppl much smarter than me so if it is real I'm sure they have a legit plan to move forward. It'll be interesting none the less. At the very least it'll be able to play xbone game flawlessly, so maybe the reduced price upgrade path isn't so far fetched as I believe. Let the E3 hype commence!
