• I'm not messing it up... It's just a slide kit you attach to the lower receiver...you can change it back and forth in less then a minute.

i understand that bit; you are still firing a projectile through the weapon system not designed for that weapon system; you will experience occasional; jams failure to feed double feed it can also mess with the barrel rifling if you do not swap to a .22cal barrel and cause problems with either the kinetic recharge system or gas recharge system (pending what brand/custom make 1911 you have the recharge can be either) you can also mess up the bolt and firing pin. mechanical failure to the degree of parts failure or misfire gone wrong is quite rare on 1911s especially with only .22 cal but it can and does happen occasionally. theres a reason that for a better acc .45 1911 most people convert it to 9mm pb or .38 special the reason being the round charge & recoil vs mass of the projectile is more accurately compensated/ less extreme of a difference than .45 acp vs .22 cal or if you want a better but more expensive round that has a better/ less extreme recoil force differential vs the .45 acp; go with 5.7x22 cal (the FN round)

  • It is a slide kit!!! It comes with an entire .22 upper... The only thing that remains the same is the trigger assembly.

  • i understand. i was in the army, i was professionally trained in this stuff. you can still experience feed problems and jams and it can mess up certain parts pending on the extent of parts swap and customization. if you are swapping out the entire upper; slide recoil system&springs barrel hammer firing pin chamber loader/feeder firing pin housing/bolt just keep your regular .45 as is and buy an entirely brand new trigger mechanism& clip for 50 bucks that way you don't just take 75% of your regular .45 acp 1911 and make it shelved/useless by swapping it and you end up with 2 fully functioning weapon systems instead of 1 that you have to swap in and out. also keep in mind that brand new guns have break in periods of usually 500-1500 rounds fired for semi automatic and EVERY SINGLE TIME you put new parts in the weapon system you must restart that break in period.

  • http://www.tacticalmachining.com/80-products/80-1911/f-s-u-o-tm-recon-1911-80-frame.html 36 bucks for the frame you will need to purchase the trigger, pins, seer and magazine/clip for 50-150$ you can build a 2nd weapon system using that slide kit which you won't have to re do the break in period for every time you swap or risk feed malfunction/misfire or jams. yea in DOD its called magazine not clip on google & internet clip is the more common term (albeit incorrect) swapping the entire upper to different caliber extremes that vast on a regular basis CAN AND WILL BREAK YOUR TRIGGER SPRINGS EVENTUALLY you are BETTER OFF building a 2nd weapon system in your case than switching the uppers on a regular basis.
