I don't understand why people believe that vaccines are bad for their kids But half the time, I don't understand why people bother worrying about what other people do or don't do. Everyone should just mind their own business

  • Sadly whether or not someone else is vaccinated could very well be their business seeing as an unvaccinated person is far more likely to spread something to you than a vaccinated one. Bonus points if you/ your kid either can't get vaccinated because of immunodeficiency or age so you're at an even higher risk to begin with

  • How does an unvaccinated kid spread something to another kid who is vaccinated?

  • Mutation. All it takes is a ground for replication.

  • It is highly unlikely that they will spread it to a vaccinated person. The problem is the people who aren't vaccinated, typically infants. There are a good deal of vaccinations that an infant cannot receive right away and may have to wait for a few months before they can receive them. Until then they're vulnerable. They other significantly at risk group is the immunodeficient; people who have weakened immune systems. They either can't tolerate the vaccines and so can't receive them or are weakened enough that even with vaccination are still fairly susceptible to infection. Finally, even those who are fully vaccinated are still at risk. Vacation typically confers somewhere around 95%+ immunity, typically in the upper range. The odds are low, but still there. The only way to completely eliminate the risk is by eliminating the diseases themselves, and you do that by preventing them from spreading to new hosts. We do this by vaccinating as many people as possible. Over time the numbers drop and with them so does the risk. Sorry about the wall of text, I'm a bit passionate about this topic.

  • Vaccinated people still have a low chance of being infected and the real risk is to either infants who are too young to be vaccinated or the immunodeficient who can't receive the vaccine/it doesn't matter even if they did
